You are the only channel that has shown what exactly is convergence and how to fix it. Thank you for that. I subbed a few weeks back. Now that I know exactly how to fix it, I can fix mine. I will share your Channel on mine.

Thanks man I subbed back! Some of this stuff seems like a hidden or lost knowledge so when I learn it I try to explain it in an easy to digest type of way. Vids like this arent very entertaining or popular but for me id rather help a handfull than entertain a million.

@@LameGaming exactly, as soon as I figured out how to get into the service mode of a Sony Trinitron I posted a video. Then after that I made a video on how to calibrate your TV using the 240p test suit. If we don't preserve this knowledge, crt televisions will slowly die away. Have you seen where that guy is making a open source mother board for replacement on any model crt. As long as the tube is fine, you can use his board to operate it.
@LameGaming2 жыл бұрын
@@JoeRetroWorld Exactly! Your talking about the open source crt project?... Yeah it sounds pretty damn cool and sounds like you could create a pvm out of a consumer tube as long as the tube is quality. But yeah I watched the interviews retroRGB bob and zezretro had with the guy.... Hopefully it gets completed and kits wont cost a fortune. I know another guy electronash who is building a test bed for it, he helped me disable my TV tuner signals from reaching the integrated micon/jungle chip on my sony 27fs120.

The reason your green looked more spread out than the other colors at the end is because its gain is too high, making the beam size from the electron larger. contrast = beam power = beam size. good job on the adjustments

FINALLY! I've been looking for this for two years now and because I dont know technical english it was hard. I have blue way off on my TV. About 10mm off but, if remember correctly, it goes toward the edges. Another to fix is CRT monitor. Here whole fly transistor must be replaced. Sadly the only person in my town that can fix old stuff said he doesnt do it anymore because lack of spare parts.

@@LameGaming Hi. So tried to fix it but there is a problem. No convergence rings XD. I found focus and clarity potentiometers but no rings. The only thing near tube I can mess with looks like potentiometer but no idea really. Its a barrel with allen screw inside. No idea if thats safe to mess with.

Awesome video. This will be my reference if I ever need to mess with convergence rings on any of my sets. I always forget which ones are purity and which ones move the beams.

Thanks, I should of mentioned some non sony consumer sets might have 2 pairs of purity rings and some later sonys had an extra set of rings for H bowing way out on the neck but I think most people will know what they have.

Another great video! I've learnt a lot from your channel and i've not even watched all the videos yet. Great photography as well. What are your thoughts on rejuvenating trinitron tubes? I hear mixed info. Some people saying it can be done, some saying it can't. I have a BVM 20F1E and a B&K 467 and checked the pinout of the tube and B&K adapter. The pinout does tally up but of course I wouldn't dare... 😂 Retro tech did 1 video and claimed to rejuvenate a PVM trinitron with a B&K 467 but gave next to no info and never did another video on it since. I think it's something a lot of PVM/BVM owners would be interested in if it's documented, tried and tested. Keep up the good work dude! 👍

I have a few 40 series pvms with dim tubes and did alot of digging as well about rejuvenating sony tubes and kind of found the same info as you..... Nothing definitive. I was going to pick up a rejuvenator and see how it went. I read something about sonys needing each color rejuved seperately but dont remember the details now or the validity of that info. Sadly im working 60-70 hours a week and so dont have any free time at the moment. I had a ton of footage for several videos but dont even have time to edit any of it 😒 Hopefully i can get some free time in the near future. Thanks for watching!

Hey! Great video. I’m having trouble with my 20M4U’s convergence because it has a really complicated yoke setup…if you’re in the southeast I would hire you to help me out! 🤣

Sorry, Im in the midwest. I currently have a couple m2u's on the bench Im working on.... One with sync issues after recap and the other still needing a recap. If I have time and need to dial in convergence on them maybe ill make a vid but cant promise anything since free time is almost non existent with my job 😟

@@LameGaming I feel that man, best of luck with those! Would love to see a video if you post one. The 20M4U has a very unique yoke and there do not appear to be any videos on it out there.
@LameGaming2 жыл бұрын
@@GodfatherNick17 I think the only major difference between the m2u and m4u's were that the m4's have 800tvl count tubes. I know my service manual covers all the 14 and 20" m2u's , m4u's, and medical variants so the yokes should be the same. I agree, the yokes are very complex looking. I think convergence adjustments are made in the service menu are they not? I might remember seeing a single hstat pot on the neckboard but cant remember if there was rings for convergence or it was controlled by that fancy electro doohicky on the neck lol. Im not at home and have both monitors stripped. Ill play with it when they are together but could be a while unfortunately

I dont own an iart but have a jvc 36" curved tube crt that I just rgb modded. I dont think it has an hstat knob either. Probably all done with the rings which may be glued down. My yoke is bonded to the tube as well, not sure about the iart sets.

@@LameGaming Opened it up yesterday and there's no way to move the rings. Probably glued down and I did not want to mess with it since I'm new to CRTs
@LameGaming2 жыл бұрын
@@mospii Probably a good decision, crts are never perfect due to the nature of the technology. Sometimes a little misconvergence is to be expected, especially towards the corners. I have 3 sony pvms that all had new tubes put in but the serviceman never bothered adding convergence strips. I got the majority of the screen converged well but theres some misconvergence in the corners. I have two options, spend a whole day moving around convergence strips to find the best location and gluing them in place and let my ocd make the whole process 10x longer than it should take.... Or ignore it which you really cant see unless your looking for it anyway. Im ignoring it..... ...For now 🤣

Man - really happy to have found your channel - yes, very much like you - have put it off for too long and don't want to mess things up /make worse. So I seem to have convergence issues on the outer top left corner of my monitor, not necessarily the center or other parts. I'm wondering if tweaking the rings need to be done in conjunction with a yoke adjustment? I have an arcade monitor (25" Wells Gardner) this is most notably happening on, but this information is great all around and I will be taking a look. How bad was the shock and are you no longer getting shocked with the glove? cheers
@LameGaming Жыл бұрын
Ive only ever owned a couple arcade monitors and that was before I started messing with crts but I would assume a yoke adjustment is only necessary if your image is tilted, you have yoke sag, or you know it needs reseated. alot of the time some edge and corner convergence issues are just part of the hobby, no crt image is truly perfect. If its just that one corner, maybe try a magnet first. Honestly...the little zap I got startled me more than anything and its the flinching reflex that will damage your crt or yourself lol. I dont know if the glove helped, I have a lineman glove rated for this stuff but you have to put another glove over it and it is too bulky to use. I always try to keep one hand behind my back and stay away from the anode and power supply and have been fine thus far but dont do as me just because I do lol. I havnt had to do any yoke or ring adjustments since messing with these 40 series pvms but have a 2030 and 2530 im going to recap soon which im sure will need some tweaking.
