My first 24 hours were stressful. I kept having issues getting Windows 11 to update and I kept having to restart it. Finally, once the updates were done, I was able to start using it. The laptop has been fantastic. I was disappointed by the RAM as I mentioned in the video. I was originally only going to install dual channel 32GB, but I'm glad I accidently bought a single stick of 32GB on my first order. That way I was able to just order another one and run 64GB for video editing. I'm really happy with the purchase and now I need to figure out how to store all the 4K video I'll be shooting.

Which RAM do you currently recommend? This Crucial or Corsair Vengeance?

Hi I am seeing Amazon is selling a used one for a pretty decent price. Would you recommend this than the 4070 Razer blade? How’s your long term feeling about this laptop?
@ruffwrenchn2235 Жыл бұрын
It has been running great over the past 18months. I bought a 1tb 980 pro ssd to run the OS and used the stock ssd in the second slot as local video editing storage, but the stock one is super slow. I ended up buying a 990 pro 2tb to replace the stock one and it is way faster. If you buy the 2022 3070 model you definitely need to upgrade the RAM to at least 32gb and SSD to 980 or 990 for long term use. I will mention that not even the 2023 laptops are great for multiple external monitors if you want to do that. They need to come out with a true tb5 standard with higher data rates first. The 4070 is supposed to be awesome though! I'm looking for a laptop for my wife now and it is a tough call between 3080ti and 4070. In the 14" market, the new razer blade 14 is better though because of upgradable RAM.

@@ruffwrenchn2235 thanks for the info. yeah, if I am buying a $3000, I don't know if I want to do that much upgrades... I may just wait the blade 14.

Hi Is it worth and massive improvement if upgrading 16gb(2×8) ddr5 soddim to 64gb(32×2)? suggestions and recommendations will be appreciated
@ruffwrenchn2235 Жыл бұрын
I think everyone will have different needs based on what their using their device for. I wanted to do 4k video editing and planned on only running 32gb(16x2) but accidently ordered the 32x1 so I just ordered a second 32x1 to make it 64gb. I found that I used 52gb of RAM while processing stabilization on 4k60 video using premiere pro. If I used a lighter software then I probably wouldn't need that much RAM. Windows 11 uses quite a bit for overhead also and if you have any bloatware or antivirus you're probably looking at 6-10gb at idle so 16gb definitely isn't enough. If you aren't running the rig hard then I think dual channel 32gb(16x2) is enough. Try getting your baseline by checking how much RAM you're using at the heaviest load you run normally. Add some buffer space (giggle) and order that much RAM.

I have the 3080 TI with the 12800H and I put some good old liquid metal on CPU/GPU. The CPU/GPU on max power draw (cpu on boost/gpu on max) hardly hit 90 degrees with prime95/aida64/Cinebench. The CPU throttles at 100 degrees. Ofc in real scenarios you hardly push that hard. Razer did an impressive job this time on the Blade 15. However, the 12900H(k) is a joke on the Blade 15 so hands off or get the Blade 17!

Hi! I did get this model and I tried opening it up to install the 2nd SSD. Just wanna ask if you can feel a slight gap by those 3 clippings side as there is no screw holding them. When I press on the backplate on those clippings i can feel they are not 100% (theres gap movement ever so slightly)flush with the machine. Would u confirm that for me?
@ruffwrenchn22352 жыл бұрын
I’m there is some flex in the chassis if that is what you’re asking, but the backplate should not flex down where there are no screws. Maybe you didn’t get the clips in properly?
@ゴードン-l2p2 жыл бұрын
thank you for the reply! It is flexed up ever so slightly. If I press down on it i can feel theres is a minimal gap on that edge of the backplate… like 1mm of gap. Do you think it is okay?

There is a second slot stacked on the first slot. The M.2 slot only does the standard size SSD and can't run shorter ones. Also only single sided SSDs.

coming from a young novice video editor, I don't have a razer 17, but I'm pretty sure a 32 would be enough if you're not really using the laptop for heavy video editing/photoshop processing and a 32 gig would definitely be enough to run atleast gta on high and a movie at the same time, and if you decide its not enough you can always just buy another one in the future

I would imagine that if you're getting new RAM anyway you would want the higher speed, but not at a significant cost of latency. As far as I'm tracking, you would have to crack the BIOS to get that speed though since Razer has cooling limitations. www.cgdirector.com/ram-memory-latency/#:~:text=latency%20memory%20kits.-,RAM%20Speed%20vs.,and%20the%20latter%20in%20nanoseconds.

i saw even the i9 12900 is not enought to make ddr5 worth it , u will need a way bigger cpu
@youjean832 жыл бұрын
Not true, it depends on the bus clock the CPU communicates with the RAM. Even a slow CPU can support the bus clock (MT/s), while a fast CPU might underperform. Moreover, the RAM size is a major aspect itself and in production capacity wins over speed (servers etc.).

@@jasonmax5758 yes the 12800H/12900H/12990HK support LPDRR5 5200. However, the performance improvement from 4800 to 5200 is rather small and not worth it. Get it if you can afford it, though I doubt it's available yet.
