To all those who wonder why the singer sold this song to YG - She was a pretty famous singer from UK by the name Natalia Kills. She became a judge on X-factor New Zealand and got involved in an incident where she overreacted and humiliated a contestant. Since then the public boycotted her completely, making her change her name and barely release any music ever since. She made a huge mistake back then and she is responsible for it, therefore she can’t escape the consequences of her actions. I guess she mostly writes for others now. At least it’s good that BLACKPINK got this great song!

Let me clear you, the artist herself is the main producer of this song. Her name is Natalie Teddy Sinclair, used to be the lead vocalist of the band cruel youth. She wrote and composed the song but didn't officially release it. Now she produced the song for Blackpink and rightfully gave it to them. She has been given all the credits. Lot of BlackPink fans are being confused whether this is a demo or an original so let me clear the air! So after Natalia Kills's X-Factor tragic event she went to change her name to Teddy Sinclair and her together with her husband started a band under the name Cruel Youth and has released an EP, wrote for Rihanna, Madonna, Kiiara, Cyndi Lauper and even OST for film. Honestly speaking she have been preparing for a full length album back in 2018 before BlackPink released their The Album, and The Happiest Girl was meant to be on her upcoming album but there was a problem with her agency and her album management so at last the songs were leaked online but to save the songs and make fortune out of it she decided to sell her rights! She did give her songs to other artists in order to buy hers and The Happiest Girl was one of them, she sent it to SayGrace, YG and also many more, SayGrace did her own version but she never legally bought it and as for YG they offered her higher price for the song and she made the deal, so even though she sold it to YG she is still the original owner because she wrote the lyrics and produced the music so she will get the credit (in this case YG didn't change the lyrics so she was credited as hers, YG producer line was credited as well alongside with her because they made some changes to the instrument). So is she the original and rightful owner? To be exact she was the original because this song was meant to be on her upcoming album, but in system of law it's BlackPink and YG property now and they are the rightful owners, but still you can't change the fact that the original idea of this song came from her and was meant for her!

@@kellyd6766 never said there's anything bad about it. I won't call myself blink but I'm a casual fan so I won't sugar coat it... I am utterly disappointed because I expected something original., something that defines them, something that justifies the title born pink. Just didn't expect this comeback to turn out this way. The happiest girl was the one song that I found worth it but listening to the original version- I can't help but compare the two and I'm sorry but bp version sucks except Jisoo's part. I wish this was Jisoo's solo. But guess we all have our own opinions so it's fine. I get you.
