So glad I came across your video. Huge thanks. So many good tips!!! The WiFi hack was a fantastic one. Just ordered a portable router on Amazon for about $24 and saved probably about $150+. The Charcoal pill... great tip! Power strip... Ditto! Magnets... Ordered on Amazon! Towel grips/holders... Ordered on Amazon! Water bottles... great! Actually the commission is built into the price. You are paying commissions regardless of using an agent or not. However, agents can even price match to get you a cheaper rate or upgrade. I have worked booking at a major cruise line and now a travel agent.

If you think you might get seasick, there are two things you should do before you leave home. 1. Ask you doctor for a prescription for the patch. They really work! 2. Take ginger chews. Ginger is an ancient remedy for nausea, and I can tell you from experience as a frequent traveler, they work! I buy them by the pound on Amazon, and they’re always in my purse or day bag. Ginger ale also helps, but many brands don’t have real ginger in them anymore, so check the label. If your ship has sushi, ask them for some fresh ginger that you can suck on.

One hack I like to pass on is "put your phone in airplane mode" while on the cruise ship. Your phone will be constantly roaming for a signal and the battery goes down very fast. We take it off every hour or so and check in for messages sent for meet-ups for the family, then back in airplane mode.

Liane Layman true, carnival doesn’t allow pre filled water bottles because ppl put alcohol in them but you can bring 12packs of non alcoholic beverages. I found out while boarding our cruise in July & was annoyed we didn’t know that prior. You can purchase personal sports water bottle. Your bottle has to be empty when going through cruise security.

Great tips, thank you!! Wanted to give my two cents on tip #1...not sure if this applies to all cruise lines, but what helped me get the best rate was to monitor prices for the best rate. Prices constantly go up and down, at least down here in South Florida. I checked the price a year prior and it was reasonable, but I knew I could get it cheaper. I started monitoring prices about 6 months prior to the sail date and once I saw the lowest price I've ever seen, I went with my gut and booked. This was not done over a year before nor was it done last minute. The price I got was actually cheaper than the price I got if I had booked over a year prior. In fact, I booked about 2 weeks prior to the cruise (on Carnival). I monitored the price thereafter out of pure curiosity and the price sky rocketed as the sail date crept closer and out of the blue, SOLD OUT (which to me is the scary part of booking "last minute") so I'm glad I booked when I did. For me, the key was to MONITOR -- I know all this varies by cruise line and location, but for me, booking either a year or a day before the cruise had very little to do with getting the best rate.

Thanks for helping put travel agencies out of business. They do NOT inflate the prices that you would get by calling the cruise lines 800 number PLUS a travel agent may give you a bottle of wine, shipboard credit or other goodies to earn your business, and AGAIN they do NOT charge more than the cruise lines.

Heather Gibbs some cruise lines have limits on what you can take on the ship, but for carnival (that’s the only one i’ve been on) you can buy water for your room & it will be there when you board the ship. it’s only like $4.50 for a 12 pack of water!

@tysonjacobs42215 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your tips. However, I must say that relying on the charcoal for sickness is a bad idea. The norovirus incubation period is 12-48 hrs so by the time you experience symptoms the activated charcoal will not be any help. Always use proper hand hygiene and proper food handling techniques.
@DestinedJourney5 жыл бұрын
Tyson Jacobs I agree. Healthy eating and supplements too! The charcoal has been trump card in my back pocket for a while now, and has been very helpful for us.

The charcoal doesn’t prevent you from getting the norovirus, it encases the virus (or toxin) and removes it from the body thus severely minimizing the effects if taken at the earliest onset of symptoms (nausea, gurgling).
