I've never had sea sickness but my husband has. One time I went to the shop on board & bought some Dramamine. I hopped on the elevator & the ship's Dr. was in the elevator. He asked who was sick & I told him my husband. He told me to take it back to the shop & exchange it for Bonine which is supposed to be better. It doesn't cause drowsiness either! So now I take it with us on all cruises!

A Yes and it’s been life changing. I get very bad motion sickness so this is what I do. Two weeks before the cruise I start taking ginger pills once a day. Once the cruise starts I continue with the ginger pills and/or Dramamine (in Canada the brand name is Gravol). Before the ship departs I take a ginger gravol then a regular gravol before bed. I do this for the entire cruise and I’ve never been sea sick, even on the roughest days. Highly recommend.

B. Great question. Here's my story sharing: My wife and I were preparing for our first cruise ever. It was a 15 night cruise from Florida to California thru the Panama Canal. Neither of us have ever had motion sickness in the past, but we had never been on a ship before. We decided not to worry about it and figured the ship's health center would have anything that we may need. The first night of our cruise, we went into a storm with 14 foot swells. We were rocking a rolling, but we both slept like teenagers...long and hard. Not a bad start at all. We've been on 7 more cruises since without a problem. Thanks to both you and your bride for your service.

B - my husband used to take a Bonnine, 1 hr prior to leaving port. If you use a transderm patch, try ahead of time to be sure no side effects- I used one prior to a surgery to avoid post operative nausea- it caused an extremely fast heart rate and removed - problem is it’s long acting as well. A neighbor had similar issues recently and also had dilated pupils making sun exposure very hard even with sunglasses. Try ginger, green apples, well hydrate and limit alcohol. Also- small meals of dry carbs- crackers, pretzels, etc no greasy heavy foods!
