💕 You give several indications that the living conditions are rather disgusting. But you say this isn't what affected your decision in quitting ?? I wonder then why DID you quit ??? lol 😌😏 And in my thoughts, it's amazing you haven't been sick from this ship & other's like it ! 😬🤢 Take care of yourself. And God bless ! ♥️🙏

Thank you ! I’m quite lucky, i worked 72-82 hours a week. So I was rarely in my cabin except to sleep, shower, put makeup on, and get dressed just because I worked so much. I also had my partner on the ship who is still there today, so during lunch break I’d go see him at his cabin not go to my cabin (his cabin was very nice, large and carpeted). Me and my roommate both had nasty coughs, the medical team gave me so much stuff for it haha! Flu, but it lasted over 3 weeks for me. Honestly I did over 9 months on another ship just fine and loved it same job and company! Sadly the work environment on this ship between the team I worked with was severely dysfunctional and VERY VERY hostile 🤷🏼‍♀️ I quit mid cruise just because it was that bad lol. Thanks again ❤️❤️

@@CosplayLane The cough itself says something. Are you sure it was the flu, or is that just what the medical team told you guys ? We lived in an apt that was said to possibly have mold in the air vents, and several people started developing coughs & headaches. I'm not sure to this day if it was true. 🤷🏻‍♀️ I'm glad at least your partner had a nice place to escape to ! 🙂 Are you saying the hostile environment was with the work crew for the hair salon, or the work crew in general on this whole ship ? That's scary happening on a ship. When you quit, they didn't give you a hard time ?? And did they still feed you, etc ? I'm just wondering how that works. Thanks for explaining some of the goings on on cruise ships. 😉

She for sure tested positive for flu, I didn’t though! He just assumed I was over it and the cough was left behind from my flu but I have no idea. The issues was specific with my department, the crew on the rest of the ship was lovely, and my department all technically work for a different company so it wasn’t really an issue with the ship at all. I did have issues when I quit, I quit while at sea and we weren’t arriving at a port for 2 days. I was told by my company I must still work. I went to the ship’s hr who called the revenue boss on the ship and they both agreed I cannot be FORCED to work after I quit lol. My company called my room and made me come to work and bothered me a lot (you can see in this video I filmed how much I didn’t want to be seen or talk to anyone). I ended up having to go to my boyfriend’s cabin to avoid them. They ended up calling his cabin after they researched what his room number is. I just insisted I’d fill out the paperwork I needed, show the documents I needed, and do any customs and immigration law related things I needed and that’s it. The ship feeds me, not my company, so I was still allowed to eat! The two other people also my job level were not booked at all so there was no reason to force me to work anyway, and that was one big final issue I had with that company lol. 🤷🏼‍♀️ i recommend if you work for a ship- do entertainment, concierge, kids club, security. But avoid other department lol!

@@CosplayLane Wow !! That was very interesting ! Although I'm sure it wasn't for YOU !! HA I can't believe the company was trying to get you to continue. Maybe they had to pay a percentage of your food & lodgings, since you weren't actually working anymore ? I'm glad you managed to finish up & get off that ship safely !! Whew ! 😂

I've been wondering how hard it is to get a job on a cruise ship. Are you still working.

I stopped but my partner still works on them. The vast majority of all cruise workers (regardless of company, most are all under the same umbrella) are recruited through third party agencies within countries like the Philippines, India, and South Africa. Non-English Language specific cruises (example would be chinese cruises, where the language spoken by the passengers is chinese not English) tend to hire within the same country they sail out of, in that case China. These positions would be almost the entire hotel staff which is the vast majority of staff in general (all bartenders, hosts, cooks, cleaners, accommodation, front desk, laundry, etc are this same department). It is pretty much 100% impossible to get a job in any of these positions unless you use the agencies within the country that the agency is in. Even quiet ferries use these agencies. Inner country river cruises might NOT however (due to the lack of international water making hiring outside the country easy). When it comes to officers and engineers and electrical, the ones I know of are hired out of schools and agencies within mostly England, Romania, and Italy. And when it comes to entertainment staff, they typically use entertainment agencies for that. Would recommend if background in it. Last staff are not staff of the ship, but an outside company (shop workers, photo workers, retail staff, spa staff, etc). Anyone on the ship hired by a company to go on the ship and make as much money as possible off the guests, usually commission based jobs. Hardings (retail), images (photo), and Steiner / onespaworld (spa) are the largest ones on ships currently, being on anywhere from 100-200 ships. As one of the Steiner workers, they hired me with manager and years of experience in my field but they also hired people with 0 experience and no license to practice at all. So they will take anyone because even poor workers will make them money, and there is 0 risk because if you can’t do your job or you quit you pay your own flight home. So it really has to do with where you live and your nationality on your passport, as well as what department you would be in. Typically the medical test before you go, and training, and flights can range anyone from 500-2000k usd just to get your first contract. But most agencies will only charge you 500 for medical. And some will cover flights (usually only for officers). Medical and training typically lasts years so many contracts. Hope it helps

@@CosplayLane Wow that's sounds complicated. I'm a US citizen but I'm bilingual. College degree but no experience in that type of industry at all. I was looking for an easy job but it sounds like there is a lot requirement

USA citizens on ships typically are only in entertainment department- I was the only American in the South Pacific working in the commission departments (I had to go to Canada for to get this job because they didn’t hire Americans). I would say none will hire you unless you go to another country like I did, or are a musician or entertainer/dancer/ part of a group. However, ships pay most employees not in the entertainment department about 1$-3$ an hour, so it’s not a loss. Plus being away from home for 6-9 months and no days off at all for the entire time- trust me it’s no loss.
