A crew member from another line once told us that while they will not outright tell passengers not to bring ducks they really don’t like them. They make more work for the crew (they are told to quietly throw them away) and they have even found them in unsafe and unsanitary places. What people don’t get is that crew will ALWAYS say happy and nice things to us, even if what we are giving them trouble.

Carnival crew members love the ducks. I bring ducks just for them and I get mobbed at brunch and dinner giving them to crew.

Cool to see Icon arrive in Miami. I would think Disney has more important things to worry about other than hidden rubber ducks, but then again, I've seen them in some pretty unclean/unsanitary spaces onboard too. It's a cute thing that has clearly gotten out of hand.

I heard that recently a cruise duck was stuck in the plumbing on a Disney cruise ship. Not sure if it’s true, but that’s the rumors. Assuming that’s the reason or one of the reasons why Disney is requesting passengers not to bring these ducks on board their ships.

ICON is huge, seeing her make the turn around in Miami really underscores how large she is…. I always feel like her bow is lower then her stern, from her test sailings till today she seems to sit low up front vs the rear.

Disney is not the only cruise line that discouraged the ducks. A Royal Caribbean captain actually spoke on a Facebook short and ask passengers not to bring any ducks on board. He had one in his hand and showed it to the camera and literally said what's up with the ducks?

That is odd, because RC sells ducks in their shops - at least on our Grandeur cruise after Thanksgiving. They do ask that you don’t hide them in restrooms.

A recent cruise I went on had one person bring over 200 ducks to hide (she brought a suitcase just for ducks and other gifts). In the group I was in, there were at least 100 other staterooms who were going to bring ducks. Even if the "average" person brings only 20 ducks per stateroom, a group of 100 duck hiders means 2000 ducks per cruise. If people go all-in like that woman, that would have been 20,000 ducks. I can see why cruise lines wouldn't want it to go that far.

Good morning, Doug! I watched the Icon of the Seas sail into Miami on the Live cams YT channels. It was more apparent of how big the ship is when it was right next to MSC Meraviglia and Virgin Voyages Scarlet Lady to make its turn in the basin. Disney, I think is making a mistake on how they are handling the ducks (like everything else Disney has been alienating customers lately). They could provide passengers with "Donald" Ducks who like to scavenger hunt these. Make it an actual fun game for kids and adults. I am not a duck cruiser so I don't have a dog in this fight however just an observation.

Mornin' Doug! Wow! Someone's insurance is going to be forking out some coin! Act of God? MSC's ship, MSC pays? Mooring rope supplier? Hopefully it doesn't get too messy. I never got the duck thing. At a time when crews are working hard to keep the spread of contagions down, hidden ducks present a potential vector for ensuring one sick passenger turns into many. I'll pass, thanks.

Carnival Venezia cruise that sailed 12/20/23-12/18/23 thiswas the worst cruise ever!! The food was horrible and cold. Ship stayed docked in NYC due to storm theb shio wasn't able to dock at the scheduled 😫 islands and we were not guven a refund vacation wa runed!! Shio lights power went out thiught we were hihaxjed at sea
