I am glad that you are enjoying the series! I still have more to share; the Falkland Islands were amazing and so was the rest of Antarctica!

Hi Dee: I’m rewatching your videos because I’m going to be doing the same cruise December 15 2024. I had considered doing an expedition cruise but I have spinal stenosis and worried that it might be too strenuous for me. I received a free inside stateroom offer from HAL and jumped at the opportunity to see South America and Antarctica so I’m very excited. Thank you so much for posting these incredible videos. I love them.

Hi Dee, I'm enjoying your vlogs. Thank you for the detailed information. I'm going on this cruise in December. Is there enough seating in the pre port talks that you don't have to claim a seat an hour before the talks?
@CruisingWithDee5 ай бұрын
There is definitely not enough seating for the port talks. I generally would take a book and get a seat around 30 minutes before. If there was an event prior (like a Captain’s Talk or Antarctica lecture) definitely get to the room 30 minutes before THAT as the room is not cleared between talks. I did not attend the Spanish lessons, and when one of those was scheduled right before a port talk, I could not get a seat and would go to the overflow room, which was the Rolling Stone Lounge. I was very grateful when the Antarctica talks were broadcast in the room so no worries about seating.

South America is an incredible place to visit, with or without Antarctica. Would you like to cruise there? If so, what types of itineraries do you find the most interesting?

We are booked for this exact cruise in January of ‘25. It’s so fun to see the itinerary from your point of view! Thank you for these vlogs!

@@BonnieGee-t5j You are very welcome! Such a great itinerary, and I didn’t find a ton of information out there prior to my cruise, hence the vlogs!

I’m enjoying your vlogs Dee. How was the temperature in the MDR and theater? Trying to figure out packing for a cruise on Zuiderdam.
@CruisingWithDee7 ай бұрын
Than you, Rebecca! Overall, I’m always a little chilly. I wore shirts with a thin thermal underneath for the cold parts of the cruise, and was quite comfortable in both the MDR and the theater. For the warmer areas (Santiago, Buenos Aires, Uruguay) I thought the air conditioning was perfect in both places. One thing to note that Promenade, especially in the middle of the ship, was often cold in Antarctica from all the doors opening on 3. Where are you going on the Zuiderdam?

I will be taking a 14 day cruise around South America in December. Can you offer some recommendations for what type of clothing I should pack? Is it ever warm enough to swim in the pool? Or is it cold the entire time? Thank you.
@CruisingWithDee7 ай бұрын
Absolutely warm enough to swim in the pool in Buenos Aires and Santiago on our trip, as well as both of our stops in Uruguay (Montevideo and Punta del Estes). Pool water very cold, but lovely getting some sun. Once you start going further South, however, it will quickly get colder. We had to pack summer clothing and winter clothing for our trip. I hope your South America cruise as much as we did. What cruise line are you going with?

Hello, I saw your video on YT, but because of my poor language skills, I couldn’t understand the rich content. However, I am also taking the same trip with HAL this year. I have special expectations for Patagonia. I hope you can let me know. Let me know how to play this place better, and which pier is Patagonia? Thank you for your answers and opinions.
@CruisingWithDee5 ай бұрын
You can take your cruise itinerary and use google maps in your language so you can figure out which ports will give you access to Patagonia, as the ports you stop at may be different than the ones on my cruise.
