Singapore does not pay the US for protection. The US is in the region for its strategic interest. It uses Singapore as a re-supply and recreation point for its ships and crews respectively. They have to pay for the goods and services they procure.

I wonder where to find real audited figure. It is the first time I heard of paying US for protection.

Thanks for your correction. That was an idea I had 20 years ago which Taiwan spending big portion of tax to defence expenses

That was an idea which I try to persuade my father why I decided to move my family to Singapore and it has been corrected by many Singapore viewers. Again thanks to point out.. maybe I should have done more research

Do you think Singapore really need F35? why Singapore let US military ship harbour in Singapore bases. why Singapore totally open to Citibank and the like in the early year. It is a form of paying protection, US is the few countries with a surplus trade with Singapore which is true only in recent year, why?

Thanks for your point. It was a dialogue between me and my father 23 years ago And I was trying to compare how does the taxpayer money been used in Taiwan and Singapore
Taiwan to me is only gd for visiting but NOT to live in long term. Lovely country with many mountains to see but OMG, just look at the number of natural disasters they have in a year, so unsafe country. I am so happy that Singapore has no mountains or volcanos, that’s why we are saved from those earthquake, typhoon or any mudslide disasters.. I feel so blessed to live in Singapore that we don’t have to experience any of that natural disasters.❤❤❤ Also,Taiwan avg salary has been stagnant for so many decades, the avg salary in Taiwan is about 3- 4 times LOWER than Singapore😮. FYI Singapore has the highest avg salary in asia & is one of the RARE countries that is progressive on raising the living standard of its citizens.❤🇸🇬❤️
Thanks for sharing your experience. You make a great choice to choose Singapore. Angel Jie Jie also move from Taiwan to Singapore because of our education system and she mentioned the English standard of people in Taiwan vs Singapore.

In fact, 1997 had LPR scheme ( Landed PR) for Taiwanese due to then head of controller knew TW higher educated people very well ( not able to address it to much here) to benefit Singapore economy well to establish solid national components. Good to know your story and articulation here. No matter how it is your settle down decision is correct, the living environment, education and society stabilities of SG is better than TW at least 10* Times.

Yes, you are on point that we speak Singlish amongst ourselves. Correspondingly, we are also able to communicate in standard English when we are required to do so.
I will never and had not forget how the Taiwan ex-DPP Foreign Minister had insulted the small size of our beloved Country, Singapore. So naive and so arrogant !

Oh really, Which one? When was it pls? What did he say about sg??
Ambulance fee is about $50-$80 depends on the diff companies I guess? I have not heard of over $100 unless that your friend have included ER emergency fee which is charged by the hospital to see their emergency doctor at the standard fee of $120.❤
In Singapore, public expenditures are heavily funded by investment incomes from sovereign fund investments managed by GIC and Temasek. Also we don't pay $$$ to the US for protection. SG is important to the US and the other countries because our leaders and diplomats are their advisers and political brokers. That is why Singapore is included in the G8 and G20 meetings despite not being a member country in these setups.
