A couple fell for the original charm of a crumbly 1920s Colonial, but they need Nate and Jeremiah's help to make it functional for their family. Before renovations can begin, the duo must determine what stays from a collection of hand-me-down furniture.
Designing duo Nate Berkus and Jeremiah Brent are helping moving families get a fresh start. They'll aid their clients in letting go of what they no longer need before renovating the property into the perfect dream home for the family's next stage of life.

The arrangement of the sunroom is so purposeful, and looks so much bigger and more inviting! The couple seemed so low key and unassuming, just an ordinary hardworking family, and it was touching to see the efforts made to make them so happy. Great job, yet again :)

It's fun to watch these two update a space. What I like: fireplace left as it was; sunroom better utilized; dining room; kitchen island furniture. What I don't like: the big black hinges on the built-ins; the B&W diamond hearth; the oversized pendants. What I wonder: Does it really honor an artist to use a mural of someone else's design in her space?
@rdrydnghdwolfe1396
@rdrydnghdwolfe1396 Жыл бұрын
I completely agree about the B+W diamond hearth only because it fights with the beautiful river stones of the fireplace. The tiles are the same size as the stones, in fact. On their own, each is great. But they cancel each other out; jarring. Everything else (including the idea of a new hearth)--gorgeous. What a pretty house, and what nice people!
@afriend2107
@afriend2107 Жыл бұрын
Agree! First time I’ve not loved what they did (had to happen someday). They could have taken one of her art pieces and had it made into the wallpaper. The bw tiles looked awful with the stone and took away from the beauty of it. Still love their work and the two of them but this was a miss for me.

@emilys3638
@emilys3638 Ай бұрын
I'm not sure the wall mural was actually her art. I could be mistaken, but my impression was that it was a ready-made wallpaper that echoed and honored the style of her art. To bring it all together. But actually that would have been cool to use her art to make a custom wallpaper! And who knows, maybe you're correct and that is what they did, in which case, I agree it would have been fun to see her reaction!

We finished building our house in September of 19. We HATE Gloomy Grey and Death Black interior colors, so we decided not to have any in our house. We chose “Rain Forest Green” and “Rainforest brown” granite for our countertops. Everyone loves the colors that we chose. They too are tired of all of the depressing gray and black colors in 75% of the homes today, at least in America.

Marble is a horrible choice for countertops unless you never cook. It scratches and stains too easily. Open shelving just allows all your dishes and glasswear to get dusty/greasy. The grey and white scheme already looks dated.
@jhutch1681

Grey is not my favourite, but I know a lot of people love it. I find it to be drab, most often. I also think the mural is busy, but then I prefer a clean, calm look. Nothing wrong with it, just different taste!

The kitchen mural was a great idea but it was cool tones & would have been offset better by some warmth, either in cabinet color or counter. Those shades of gray never make a house feels homey imo, more industrial perhaps.

The river rock fireplace is hideous... The rock, the country hinges, the B&W hearth... barf! The whole point of an island is to sit at it... this island seats zero. It's insulting to an artist to have a stranger's work plastered in that giant scale in the most used room in your home. They ate up the whole budget with that impractical marble and slapped a bunch of grey paint everywhere. Awful.

I find that funny because when rooms do have color, you people (strict no-nonsense judgmental design armchair ladies) complain that it's too much color. When rooms are neutral, it doesn't have enough color. Like what do you freaking women want? if there's no color you complain. If there's color, you still complain....Like what does a room have to look like in order for you ladies to not freaking complain for once in your miserable suburban housewife lives?! lol
