No- but I was there. Age 4 with my Mam & Dad. My Dad took a picture of me stood in front of Sophia Loren with her hands on my shoulders. Gregory Peck is in the background chatting to people. My Mam's family were from Treowen, my Dad's were Roma so I don't know much about where they came from but they bought a farm in Wattsville but when my grandfather got killed in the pit they settled in Treowen. I remember the viaduct because it was condemned but us kids used to dare each other. Most of the walkways were rotted by then so you could walk on the 6" wide iron on the spans that held the wood. I never made it more than 1/3rd of the way but some kids crossed it.

I was there as a nine year-old.... walked along the old railway line with my mates and managed to get Sophia Loren's autograph. Couldn't get near Gregory Peck unfortunately; muscled out of the way by the bigger boys! I love the view of the old 'orange' River Ebbw!! Hard to believe how extraordinary that colour was and how anyone ever thought it was acceptable..... thanks for sharing this.

Did you notice that when the helicopter crashes into the river that the river is suddenly much wider and clearer?

Probably the most life and action that Crumlin has ever seen lol So sad what's happened to Crumlin with all it's shops and cafes gone like they never existed. The river Ebbw I see on the film is there in all it's orange glory. It flowed past my school -it was always either orange from steelworks or black with coal dust.. now clean and full of life I'm told

The majority probably (on this video) had never heard of Gregory Peck nor Sophia Loren.

I think I see two of my grandparents. The woman in the black hat at 7:05 could be my mum's mum who lived in Crumlin, and the stocky man with binoculars at 8:11 could be my dad's dad who lived over the hill in Oakdale. I don't recognise any of the people standing beside them, though

I think there's a fair chance there would have been security guards around the town with instructions to watch out for a certain Mr Sellers. He became totally besotted with Sophia Loren when they made The Millionairess together and I think she wasn't flattered by his attentions.

Amazing footage of Crumlin. Sound designers are terrible here though, overdubbing the same bullet ricochet for every shot. Eeek, grinds my gears.
