IIRC SPOILERS They are basically made for each other. He's not an idiot and knows she likes him and he kinda likes her too. But he's too afraid to do anything because he doesn't want to ruin the friendship they've had since they were kids. He's not completely dense and knows she likes him. He just doesn't know what to do. So yeah it will be refreshing in anime to see a MC not be completely dumb in the head and actually knows his waifu likes him. Instead of the usual "oh I can't tell from all the signs you've been giving me you like me deeerrp."

For anyone who may not know: in Japan, sharing an umbrella is supposedly a very romantic gesture that only couples do. In other words, Tomo and Jun might as well have been h*nd h*lding here lol. Kind of related to this: in a lot of other countries, we would write two people's names in hearts and draw an arrow through them to tease/ship them as a couple. In Japan, they do the same by drawing an umbrella and writing the two people's names under it.
