This translation is awful but this is without a doubt the most tragic death to me. Tong deserved a long happy life and hearing Li scream out at the injustice of a good person paying the price for others’ evil yet again was so real and shook me to my core. The translation on Netflix is quite good.

I never read the book but when I started I immediately stopped. I prefer Fangfei taking Li’s identity over her soul entering her body. It feels so much more impactful. And having an older actress play a younger role adds to the the weight and maturity of the character. I love it. I can imagine the entire book is drastically different.
