Thanks for the paddle review… watched Ben Newell play with CRUSH RQT this weekend at APP NY - silver medal pro men’s dubs!! Alex Crum played with CRUSH Freestyle and placed bronze in pro men’s singles. CRUSH is popular with rec and competitive players… it’s cool to see these paddles starting to show up in the pro game, too.

Nice review! I agree that there are plenty of other options for tennis players transitioning at better price points. Here are a couple that I found: Speedup Fire and Ice paddles (they literally brought over a tennis racket handle to their paddles) -Pickleball Apes Proline Energy -11Six24 Hurache-X Control and Control+ -plenty more

Excellent honest review! Refreshing!! FWIW...the Pickleball Apes Pro Energy is a full 17 as well with over a 5.5 grip Lower Swing Wt. under 120 and great power & pop for 16mm plush...if you can hit the sweet spot. Kevlar/Carbon face, thermo foamed too. 50 bucks less without the discount. Worth a look if you want a tennis player paddle! No affiliation.

Demo’d this paddle the other day and had a ton of fun playing with it. I’d love to have one but unfortunately I can’t really justify spending $200 for a fun paddle that I’d like to play every now and again with… went with a 6.0 ruby instead since it seems like more of a balanced all court paddle. Great review though!

I would say you should try the Body Helix X3 Pro, it is a paddle that feels most like a tennis racket than anything else I've played with although shorter handle at 6 inches. You get all the power you missed with the Crush RQT

I personally prefer the CRUSH Freestyle over the RQT! The RQT was so buttery and great for drops and dinks, but the Freestyle has most of that control and plenty of pop added as well

I had the exact same question. I re-ran the swing weight test probably five or six times just to make sure and I kept getting the same answer. Not sure how they measured theirs. But the paddle plays great.

There are 2 ways to measure SW. I don’t remember exactly but last year Franklin(?) was using a different system and it caused quite a bit of confusion. That 97 was probably using their antiquated system.

Welcome to the world of Min- Maxing! The maximum Length to the paddles is not made for everyone. Higher swing weight results in sacrificing Twist weight and quick hand battles at the net. Oh, you want to add Lead/Tungsten Tape, well you are also adding more swing weight and static weight to the paddle. Conditioning, strength training allows, and proper technique players to use this paddle.

What I’m saying is these paddles cannot be longer. It’s like a golf club u generate club head speed, the longer the paddle u will generate more speed in the swing with wrist action. And we play at close proximity. Totally against longer paddles for this game. Tennis is tennis and pickleball is pickleball!
