i was severely depressed when i heard this song for the first time and i absolutely hated it. im back for the first time in nearly a year.... after lots of medicine and therapy... depression had my mind under complete control. i was brainwashed by a horrible disease, and this song literally told me exactly what i needed to do to be healthy and i couldn't process it. i was so sick that i hated a gentle encouragement towards becoming happy. depression is an indescribably horrible disease. i fought it back and the was the hardest thing ive ever done. i cant believe what it did to me, i dont know why im crying typing this out, i cant believe how sick i used to be

I don’t get actual anxiety attacks but I have a little anxiety that only really shows up for certain things (driving used to be one of them but now it’s less), and can confirm there is SOMETHING about this song in particular where by the time the song ends you realize you’ve calmed down without even noticing. This song showed up in my feed randomly today. I've been living with depression for the last 3 years, but this last month and a half have been extremely hard on my mental health. I spent almost everyday crying, isolating myself from the outside world and my friends, i even thought about being dead. I don't even know why, but when i saw this thumbnail i instinctively clicked it, and while listening to this song at first i felt nothing, but at the "would you rather be your own best friend or your worst enemy" i began tearing up, and after wiping my tears and looking myself in the mirror i managed to look at myself and for the first time in the last month i was able to genuinely smile. I know this will be buried, but from the bottom of my heart, thanks for creating this song, and to anyone else struggling with depression, it may be hard, but don't give up.

Suicide is not just an action, it's also an emotion. It's confusing but I'm thankful that I was able to lift myself out of that steep downhill mountain because if I wasn't able to I could've ended up like your sister. It's... interesting, how fitting songs can be. I just finished talking to my ex's current partner and, it feels so refreshing to be honest. Self-hatred can fuck with your head, bad. I'm glad that I'm finally at a point where I can truly relate to this song, if anything I've progressed past this point. More and more sure of myself as time goes on. My anxiety kicked in when high school started, and I went from loud and confident to quiet and awkward. I think it's because that's when I finally started to pick up on social cues (autism wheee) and realize just how much I always stuck out, and how others treated me because of it. There's a little more to it than just that but I'll spare whoever reads this the details, y'all don't need my life story haha. But that was definitely the turning point and from that point all the way up until last year I absolutely HATED myself. But something shifted last year and I started growing more loud, more confident again. Realized earlier this month that for the first time since I was 14 in middle school, I actually like myself again. I forgot how good it feels to just like myself. I'll be 21 next month and can't wait until liking myself turns into loving myself. I'll get there.

I am trans. My egg cracked about 11 months ago. Today was my third day of HRT, and my first therapy session since starting my transition in earnest. Serendipity smiled down on me as I drove to my appointment, as this came on through my Spotify Daily Mix. ...I nearly had to pull over just to let the tears flow, I had no idea how much I needed to hear this piece. I set it on repeat for an honest 20 minutes! I've never had an instance of a song being so perfect for the headspace I was in; So fearful of the changes I just set into motion and overwhelmed by confusing emotions... ...Getting caught in a feedback loop and stuck in my own head. And this song broke me free. I felt... SO inspired. SO energized. ...So... ...Heard. You may have written this to remind yourself of the good that comes from self-forgiveness and healing? i first found this song during late winter/early january of 2019. stuff was really horrible then, but this song definitely helped me get through it. its still pretty far from perfect right now, but i think as long as i can live it out till december, ill be okay. thank you :)

This explains a lot about my life, I have ADHD and learning was difficult and I had trouble with it, I should have been over it but I’m still not quite there yet, I knew it would have just taken time before I would be moving ahead. The older I got, I wasn’t sure where I was going and the fear of never knowing thing finally bit me, I wanted to be my own best friend but I was stuck with my worst enemy. There were some nights where I would stay up restless and thought of giving up, it was very scary to me and it’s scary now but I know it won’t be long! I thought letting go was the answer, I never been more wrong. So now here I am, in 2020, and I’m my own best friend...(yes this story is true!)

dear Crusher-p Thank you for uploading this song. now I know there are countless other "feel good it'll be okay" songs out there but this one I can relate to. it acknowledges "yes, I'm in a worse place than I want to be" or "yeah, I have some work to be done. but I can do it" without it being too pop or depressive. You struck an amazing balance and frankly, kickstared my personal healing process. We all hurt, some more than others and frankly, I've had my fair share of dings and scuffs. "would you rather be your own best friend" means loving you for who you are. flaws and all. Thank you Crusher-p, and I hope you all have a good one!

I remember a few years ago, back when I had first found Crusher's music, I was going through her songs and Spotify and came across this one and wondered whose beautiful voice was singing such a lovely song. It was so calming yet passionate and I had never heard it before so I went to KZbin to check AND IT WAS CRUSHER!!! It was such a fun discovery, I was like "Oh my gosh! Why doesn't she sing more of her songs? She's amazing!" and ever since then, I have been dying to hear her sing again (THANK YOU FOR "THEM" BTW, CRUSHER! IT'S ALSO AMAZING)! I love this song so much, it's so uplifting and fun. The lyrics and the message are just so wonderful and I think it's a good reminder for all of us. to give my story that allows me to relate to song and love it so much. For me ive delt with Borderline Personality Disorder, the interal fight between seeing myself as good or bad, as a ally or enemy, was the main fight, sense Self-Perception is the main factor of BPD. After years of hard work i managed to reform my own identity and see myself as a good person. Getting into making music, and really expressing a true self other then a persona being the thing that allowed me to. Even know i still question if I made the right choices, if i really have made a difference, but then I know i'd rather be happy now, then seeing myself as an antagonist years ago.
