Nanny and Moose,my favorite KZbin people. Such a magical life. Living in a magical cottage filled with family and love. Nanny like your style and fashion, your cooking is so beautiful. I admire you both for having such wonderful zest for life. I do appreciate the "God Bless Us All!" I do think of that blessing during the day. Sometimes that's the nicest thing I hear all day.

I'm so shocked not at only the high daytime temps, but the low temps are in the 90's in some areas! Please everyone stay safe and keep your animals safe and watch their feet in this heat - their little pads can burn quickly. We will be warming up here in the Ohio Valley this week into the 90s. The last two days have been beautiful. Yes, I get my cooking done in the a.m. and warm it up when I eat.

🌸Hi Nanny and Moosie. You always look so “cool” and in control dear Nanny. I strive to be more like you! I’m in southeast Michigan, and it’s been hot and humid here, too, and of course, the wild fires in Canada have added to the misery for so many. I thank God every day for my AC!! My utility bill will take a lot of my Fixed Income check, but so be it, I’m 67 and have breathing issues. Your casserole looked so good. You are a fabulous cook! Thank you for being here tonight. I’m alone so appreciate your friendly, loving conversations - you always help pass my long nights. Bless you and Moosie and your lovely family. 🌼💛🌼💛🌼💛🌼

Nanny, keeping cool is very important for seniors! On the news they keep telling us that small children, pets and seniors are the most vulnerable to heat. We need to slow down, hydrate and keep cool. Even though I have air conditioning, I have small (4”) fans in certain areas of my home. It just feels so good to have a little breeze directly on me in bed. They say to put a pan of ice cubes in front of a fan to cool down. That sounds good on the patio. Going out in your garden at sunrise is a lovely way to start the day. Not only is it cooler then but you are in the fresh air and nature. Then get all of the necessary chores finished. I love watching you cook. I am not a fish person so I would just have the noodles and cheese and other ingredients. Although I would not have the oven on in this weather. I have been having salads, sandwiches and cold foods. Find something that you can do in bed where it is cool. Reading, adult coloring books, stitching etc. I hope that you and Moose stay cool. Blessings to you both, love, Sharon

Thank you Nanny for another inspirational and gracious perspective on real life. I love your palazzo pants and white shirt and your comfortable pose for a few minutes in the morning breeze in the garden. I know life isn't simple but you capture all the small joys of your days and inspire us all to do the same. Watering, stocking up, cleaning up, meal planning and food prep are all necessary things, along with as much self-care as we can manage. I loved your advice to "not think about all the things you aren't doing". Good word for a hot day. God bless us all. xo karen.

Hi again dear Nanny.....I thought of you this morning as I sat out on our little back yard patio after trimming our ivy and doing some weeding! Whew! Time for some iced tea and my rocking chair! Don't you just love getting packages in the mail? Yes, today my 'Moderma Scar Cream' arrived! Yippie! time to cover the results of too many mosquito bites and scarring! Love your palazzo pants! Yes, going to the market on one of these extremely HOT and HUMID days can really be challenging! Making lunch and cleaning up! Time for my recliner and an ice pop!...enjoying our portable A.C. Yeah! it works great! Because we seem to be busier than ever, I type up a monthly list of our appointments and social activities by dates so not to FORGET any! What did we do when we were working and raising our families! :) All for now....hugs from a nana in Pa.

Oh Nanny, you surely don’t give yourself much credit for doing all that you do. It’s hard adjusting to slowing a little as we age. I’m so glad you are staying so active. I happened to love the hot weather, so I’ll never complain. Living with colder weather in the winter is not something I look forward to. I wished I lived in warmer weather in the winter. Even though we don’t see you too often, you are such an inspiration and hope we inspire you to keep going as much as you can. Please never feel you ever are disappointing. You are amazing with all your gifts and talents. So good to see Moosie. Thanks for all your hot weather tips in staying cool. ❤️

We’ll probably top out in the mid 80’s today. I always pray for the elderly and the babies during extreme weather conditions, even though I’m elderly myself. Moose didn't look silly at all using that ice roller. and I do think it made him look more awake! You're a wonderful improvisational cook, Mary. I make a version of that casserole using cream of mushroom soup but the clam chowder is a great idea. I like to keep a can of the french fried onion rings for a topping. We like to eat melon to stay cool, especially watermelon, and fruit popsicles. And iced tea with fresh mint!

We live in northeast Georgia near the mountains. We retired and I decided to go back to work part time maybe because I wasn’t keen on being home 24/7. The weather here this summer has been very hot and humid. We are getting the first whispers of fall now and I love it🍂🍁

Good morning Nanny & Moosie! We get this heat every summer - it was actually worse last year. We spend mornings on our back porch (faces west), and that's when I water the garden, hoe any little weeds, dump the trash & feed the cats. By afternoon any porch sitting is done on front porch (faces east), but in West Tx the air is dry & feels like a sauna, even out of the sun. So I save any office work or inside chores for hotter parts of the day. Many times we just snack for supper or if I cook it's in the air fryer or microwave to keep heat down in the kitchen. I try to start laundry in early morning. Worst thing about the heat is getting cabin fever!

Trying to stay cool and still keeping up with house, garden etc. seems to get harder. One thing I do not do is try not to turn on the oven after cooler morning. Microwave helps warm cooked food up later. Gardening chores are done early and it is back inside not too long after 8 a.m. The dog has to get some play time very early too. It has been well over a hundred on and off for weeks. What else can we do but get through it best we can. Moosie how can you root for the Dodgers after they deserted Brooklyn in the dead of night. I am rooting now for the home team the Rangers! Nanny you are reforming me. I am doing a little makeup if only to make myself feel better. I got some costume “stuff”’ to add a little nicer look especially when out and about and your colorful skirts and today’s beautiful casual pants have inspired me to go for it! How can we feel old when we look so good. Got some bio-oil but still use the wonderful Nivea also

I love your videos! The casserole looks yummy but please make that the last hot meal you cook till it cools off. Have you ever considered an air conditioning/heating system called a split? We installed one in our pool house and it’s amazing! Very economical and efficient. It requires no ductwork and is silent. They’re used a lot in Mexico and Central America. They’re perfect for old houses since just a small pipe goes through the wall from outside. We live in Houston where a/c’s probably run 300+ days a year and our pool house is the most comfortable space. Please take care and stay cool. ❤️❤️❤️❤️

Good for you to make such a great casserole on a hot summer day. It looks delicious! Some people call this a hot dish here, where I live. Others say casserole. Depends on your family background, where you grew up. Minnesota says hot dish but the further east into Wisconsin says casserole. Fun fact. You reminded me a little bit of Lucy, when she would do one of her comedy cooking bits. To cool down in hot weather, sit in the shade and place your feet into a dishpan or bucket of coolish water for at least twenty minutes. It cools the blood, which then circulates throughout your body, and cools you down. I also try to wear light colored, linen, cotton, or even silk fabric clothes. And as you all know, drink extra fluids. You both look good. I like the early morning coffee and breakfast in the garden. Very pleasant. I work on projects every day, but don't get everything done as I would like to, and I am many years younger than you. Trying to get my stamina back. Not totally back yet. Not sure if ever coming back. Anyway, thank you for another great video. Take care and stay cool. MJ♥️🌞💦🤸🌸🌊🍉🍶☕🍲🧊🌬️🌡️

Nanny, you may have discussed it at some point, could you give us a reminder, or me, on how you stay up with your supplies, the store or ordering online, how to stay stocked for the days you just can't go, I am always getting caught it seems. Sometimes I wonder how I worked all my life and family, etc. How did I keep the homefront in line then. I never wanted to be at home, I loved my career, and now I know why the home things equals 3 jobs!!! How did I ever work I ask myself. Haha. I love your little recipes it has helped me rethink all those huge meals I used to do. I still use my crockpot but a smaller one now, love that thing. Tks.

107 in Bakersfield! BTW, it’s not necessary to boil noodles if you’ve liquid / cream soup in pan covering those noodles. (Save a step). We’re indoors mostly catching up on reading. Shopping in a/c only. God bless the outdoors workers!

Enjoyed the video It is indeed very hot and DRY here in Texas as well. We have not had any rain in July and very little in June. Struggling to keep patches of grass and plants alive. You looked very nice in your Palazzo pants and your white top. I wear Palazzo pants a lot in this heat, really loose fitting anything LOL. I like Salmon, croquettes. But my husband isn’t a fan. You all stay cool. Hugs to you both. ❤ Caroline

Hi Nanny : I live in Northern Michigan. So sorry for everyone who is enduring the heat and floods. We have been having a good summer upper 70’s during the day and 50’s at night. Nanny you need central air conditioning 😜

I’m glad you made this video. I was starting to feel like I was alone in the frustration from this heat in trying to do anything. Even walking in the store and out to the car the other day was a lot in 109 degrees. Our heat is wet and stifling. We went to the beach early May and Nashville early June but now it’s tests and doctor’s appts. (We share that Moose and I’ll trade you for my colonoscopy😅) I read and watch a lot of stuff. We go out to dinner sometimes or bbq with the kids. I mostly dream of October😂 If you’d ever said I’d dread summer I would have laughed younger. Your casserole and your one earring look divine. I LOVE those pants too. You’re like the coolest Nanny! I’m going to be a Nanny again March 2024🎉 Grand #3 still waiting on my daughter to give me something besides grand cats🥰 xx🥰

Great suggestions to beat the heat. Our heat wave broke yesterday (not as hot as yours) so it is a beautiful summer day here. Great for walking! I noticed that your apron was made from a non breathable material, excruciatingly hot. I have light weight cotton ones I bought at IKEA for less than $3.00. They were in the tea towel section. Your casserole looked delicious and leftovers are perfect for another no cook meal. Thank you so much for thinking of us during such a scorcher. 🙏❤️

You were smart about the things to do to stay cool, til you got in the kitchen 😅 I do the same. But some days I tell my hubby we're having another sandwich and salad days! My new obsession is chicken finger salad. Throw lots of goodies in it. My hubby needs hearing aids too. But he's resisting. Yes, it's very annoying for us both. Love your outfit. I have a couple linen shirts I wear around over sleeveless tops. I don't like showing my arms. I'm sick of the heat! My fave place is in my bedroom too. My little world. I don't go out either unless it's necessary. Food shopping once a wk. LOVE the pumpkin idea. Stay cool.❤❤ Casserole looked yummy. Have you tried putting a small fan in the kitchen?

I also admire your energy and resilience! An inspiration. I wrote you a few minutes ago and my comment disappeared. I wanted to tell you about cooling neck scarves. They are like bandannas and wrap and tie and the little beads inside fill up with water and then you blot it and it does not look wet...put it around your neck...they come in different colors...they are a lifesaver for me in the heat ant I love them When your neck is cooled this way it then helps your whole body.. I love your casserole recipe idea too. Thanks for all you do. You are such special people...a gift to others...and your advice to do what we can and then being kind to ourselves is so needed. Thanks again . Elizabeth
