I’m not sure if Mr Annihilator is reading comments here or not, but if you are, this is a spot where I hope you realize you’re being exploited because of your image, so playing more aggressively (and to quote the late, great Gavin Smith “Calling can be an aggressive action”) will generate huge rewards for you. My read is that villain would not have tried this against most players, but recognized you were likely “solid enough” to fold the overpair, so he was targeting exactly this. If you can find 2-3 spots a session where you can counter opponents, you’re going to win a LOT. Thanks for calling in and being willing to put yourself out there.

"If he plays K7s, he can easily have a four." This is a where a key concept is missed. It is true that some loose players will have all sorts of stuff. But the question is how many fours can he have at the river. There are two of them right out there on the board, so he can't have those. On the river, if he will get there with K7 spades and bluff then he could get there with a myriad of flush draws. He could have A-any of spades, K-any of spades, Some Q-x and J-x of spades. It's a lot of combos. If he will bluff with a missed flush draw, he might bluff with 3-5 or overvalue 10-10. When you play garbage all the time 10-10 starts to look like the nuts on this board. One last point. You can't make too much of an inference from your own OMC image. The problem is that some players will think "he's an OMC. I'm going to bluff him off aces because an OMC never calls with just one pair." But another player might think "He's an OMC. I'm never going to bluff him because he will always have the goods. If I'm betting all in, I will have the nuts."
@nicks210684

This is true. Some OMCs spend so long waiting for aces that they can never fold them. And then they get to tell their bad beat story.

Usually not a proponent of the "you called turn and nothing changed on the river so you have to call down" idea but the Annihilator got the best card in the deck for his hand besides a J and he folded getting >3:1, love playing with OMCs.

Great analysis Bart!! I’m 60 years old so I’m close to looking like the old man coffee. However I thought his post flop that was very weak and I definitely would’ve jammed on the river after that board texture. I too cringed when I heard him say he folded on the river. Thanks for your time doing these Vlogs. Love you man!!

I saw a double flat in CO with AKo in my 2/5 game the other day. Hj open to 20, co flats, Button pops to 100, Hj folds, CO calls. It was very interesting to see. He ended up losing to 77 on a 533 board he called a jam for 240, but it was definitely odd lol. People do this. I see it mainly with recs who consider it overplaying. They look at it as a drawing hand. Which it is, but still.

I'm lovin' Mr. Annihilator. Pre-flop was perfect. Agree with Bart the flop bet was too small. After that, we have some problems. I can totally see someone over calling with A4 on this flop given the small sizing. I understand why Bart feels it's unlikely that 88 just flats flop then leads turn, but it could be waiting for a non-spade turn & not wanting the turn to check through on a blank. So I kinda get why the Annihilator is concerned on the river. What might give me hope is that the suit distribution on flop means A4 of spades is not possible. But A4 of diamonds is one combo that's possible. It's a tough decision here. Knowing his own image might help though. Being 70+ might encourage more bluffing. A more vigorous flop bet of $150 to $200 may also have helped.

jamming turn all day take my money if I'm beat edit: original comment at 7 min mark and now at 15:00 1st mistake we should have bet bigger on coordinated flop the sb donk lead turn supposed to be what? all 4x should fold to flop bet of 150-180. why let draws and combos and 8x get such a good price especially considering we have another player behind. If we jam turn is SB or Button folding A8, A2ss, K8, 56ss, 57ss, 67ss what flush draws to we think the will fold to jam? The stories of people folding hurt me so much bc they just seem so connected to money they are supposed to be GAMBLING. You cant wait till you have the nutzz on the river to get it in or you gonna get PLAYED instead of PAID by someone that was there to gamble.

River fold is ridiculous IMO. It's not close and it's not OK. Cry if you want while you slide the chips in, but you must call. If you want to fold on an 8, a spade, or an overcard to your JJ, maybe that's OK, but you can't fold here on an offsuit 2. If he has a 4 or a 2, oh well.

You wanna draw well you are not getting pot odds now. 80 into 300. if bro is holding AQ off he is 20% to hit an over card pot is now 380 villian only has to call 80 into a 380 pot you just gave him pot odds to call. Not including implied odds . I bet 300 you wanna try and out draw me you paying. 80 is a stupid bet.

Bart is exactly right about calling the turn. If you have decided to put that much in on the turn, you should almost certainly be calling off on the river unless perhaps it's s spade. So why not shove? The only benefit of simply calling the turn is to pick off a bluff shove on the river that might have folded to your turn shove. If I just call the turn, I know I am calling the river as the hand plays out. If I am the villain and I have a four 4 in my hand, I am most likely check raising the turn - not leading. I mean the 4 would be a great card against the overpair. That looks like a safe card for JJ. The small flop bet is a good way to induce the villain lead bet as a semi bluff. Sure you could be wrong but not often enough to fold in this spot.
