The problem Syria will have is the same problem they had before the Assad family took over. Their country doesn’t fit the western ideas of what a country looks like. Lines drawn on a map back after WW1 do not account for ethnic/tribal lands. Syria is made up of many ethnic groups Kurds, Druze, Christians and many sects of Muslim also. Many have long held grudges against others. HTS will have a hard time controlling these long held grudges and also controlling ISIS at the same time and also trying to build a country. Very difficult.

Most countries are mult- ethnic, multi- lingual. So that is not the problem. The problem happens when a minority takes over the country and imposes its will on the majority. Alawites are a small minority but they took over the country 50 years ago. With the help of Christians, they brutalized Sunni Muslims. They now need to accept that they are a minority and they cannot all of Syria or part of Syria using force.
