Ain't that the truth. There is no perfect saddle for everyone. I'm just glad for so many good options.
@josephtreadlightly56862 жыл бұрын
@@SaddleHunter That's the truth. I bought my 4th this last year & it did everything great while the last 3 were fine but there was always 1 or 2 things that bothered me a little. Supply chain delays is the problem these days & it's the only thing that would even come close to a problem even though I paid for & ordered mine just a couple of days of the reveal. I have a New Tribe one size fits all saddle for practice in a 🌳 @ 🏡. Then I have an Aerohunter Kestrel Flex size 1 for the 🌳 cutting I do @ 🏡. My early season WEI Berserker is a Small & not camo but I have a nice Firstlite leaf jacket to go over the saddle. It folds up nicely with mesh on the top & bottom & light fabric Cordura in the middle. The Molly webbing is very well done along with the lineman loops. I probably wouldn't have bought the saddle if they came out with their WEI/OOAL Embattlement which I purchased shortly after. That platform is stealth stripped & sweet 😋. The saddle I waited 10 weeks or so for was The Solitude 2.0 by Flatbranchoutdoors.com. I could wear this saddle every day of the year but I don't want to order another one. I ordered it in the size it maxed out @ which was 32" or 34" waist. U can order it custom which is great if you're very particular. I just told them on their great website that I wanted the adj. webbed bridge. The webbed leg loops make it the only hunting saddle I have which I can step into. That feature is HUGE for me. Never knew how much I hated the buckles down there until I had that saddle. The WEI leg buckles I do like a little better than the Aerohunter. The Fusion carabiner that comes with the Aerohunter is fantastic. I had a hunt where I went way back walking early in the AM. All I had in my pack was a REI down jacket. The temp was 10 degrees colder than I thought it would be. The temp dropped until about 9:00. I was able to lengthen my tether & my webbed bridge so I could become just a ball up in the 🌳. It took an hour to warm up. I was in survival mode. That saddle after all that never gave me any discomfort. Luckily my bike & cart which I locked up the evening b4 was waiting for me. There were people out there the evening b4 & I didn't want those people to see that I had a bike. Kinda got a bad vibe during that gun season. I come down the 🌳 with a climbing rope but b4 I warmed up it was too 🥶 for that. I'm thankful that I had that saddle that morning & the wait was worth it. The price considering the quality is a no-brainer. I believe it's the only saddle legally tested & rated to 375 lbs. This family business is generations deep in producing safety equipment for different types of work. So they designed it right the 1st time & it's not like a 1st generation saddle. I'm ordering that webbed tether from Aerohunter this spring. I plan on having an Oplux on the 🌳 also for redundancy. Thanks for your videos. U r helping others out with your in depth views.

Will saddle hunting work on pine trees in particular? Nearly every tree I’d hunt in my area that would be used for saddle hunting is a pine tree. Pine tree bark is very loose to a certain degree and after that outer shell flakes off it’s kinda slick.

Archon vs XC thoughts? Longtime platform guy, first saddle.
@MarquisePowell3 ай бұрын
I have an Archon. The only con I have are the adjustment straps that hold the top and lower panel together. After a couple hunts adjusting them they broke in and it became easier to move up and down. Having a 2 panel also removed the need for a back brace. If you don’t like fiddling with your saddle, then I recommend the XC. Good news is they’re both on sale right now. I don’t think you could go wrong with either or, but for all day sits I really like my archon. I’ll be picking up an XC for those super quick in and out hunts.

What’s the difference really between using this Archon alone and an XC with a back band?
@kidneystones34063 жыл бұрын
What is the difference in comfort level between the cruzur xc and cruzur ackron? I just wonder if its worth the fiddle factor. I owned 3 different saddles and back can really make a difference. The one from tethered the recliner is really good. There's a KZbin video on it. Great review
@SaddleHunter3 жыл бұрын
I would say the comfort is comparable, but the added adjustment of the Archon lets you "personalize" your comfort. I have the recliner from Tethrd as well and haven't even used it in two seasons. Thanks for watching.

Great Video... Along with the lower back pain comes a lack of mobility. The Cruzr brand comes with a "Back-band" do you think that the XC model with the back band would allow for better mobility or would the Archon model be a better choice? I use a standing desk at work and would likely be a "leaner" vs a "Sitter"

I’ve never used a saddle for hunting and I have one question related to cold weather hunts. Isn’t it a pain in the butt to put all of this stuff on and be comfortable all bundled up with a thick jacket and pants? Looks great for warmer weather but I don’t see this working as slick in the colder months.
@donaldsharpless13273 жыл бұрын
I have the same concerns. I walk approx 2 miles in when I'm hunting. After I get to an area I want to hunt, as i get cold I put on heavier clothing. Looks like it would be more trouble than it's worth trying to put clothing on or taking it off when hunting from a saddle. I can do anything I want very smoothly and much easier from a climber than this method. None of these videos show anyone in real hunting situations in late fall or winter. They are always in t shirts and shorts weather for the most part. I'm trying to justify saddle hunting over a climber because I hunt nothing but public land in the mountains and anytime i can shed some bulk and weight, I'm all for it. I can't justify the price for a complete setup, I see some safety concerns if you slip while climbing, I'm sorry, I see some comfort issues for all day hunts. I do like the versatility of saddle hunting but it looks like the whole setup is very "busy." Alot of parts and pieces. I understand that every hunting situation has a diff approach and this is just another tool. I wish I could convince myself to pull the trigger, but I can't yet.

@@donaldsharpless1327 I think you are supposed to use climbing sticks or aiders to get up the tree.

For me, it works much better than the Latitude for sitting. I know a lot of guys don't have issues with the latitude, but I gave it a lot of hunts, hours, and adjustments and just wasn't happy with it in the end. For back support I prefer this style over a typical saddle with a back band.
