I saw the show last night and Mary Davies is AMAZING! This musical documentary of Janis Joplins career moved me. Not only was I entertained and brought to tears, I also learned of the musical influences that shaped her career. The entire cast rocked the house with incredible voices and beautiful music! I HIGHLY recommend seeing this if you have the opportunity. If you can't see it, figure out how to get their CD of the show. I listened to it all the way home from the show.........twice!

@Jan she is a singer and she is an actress, and she is playing a role, and she is doing that pretty well. Its for a show called "A Night With Janis Joplin", just like in the movies, you need someone to play the main character, and I think they found the perfect actress/singer for the job. Peace

We were about to see a night with Janis Joplin, but when we got to the warfield theater, the show was canceled without us knowing. We were all dressed and drove a long way to see the show. We were so excited, and we felt frustrated when this happened. We wanted to see the show so badly partly because we love Janis Joplin, and partly because Mary Bridget is awesome! When Janis came to San Francisco from Texas her life was changed. Most of her career was when she was in San Francisco. San Francisco was a big roll in the counter culture movement, and where Janis thrived. It would be a great idea to do a show in San Francisco. Many people who live in San Francisco never got a chance to see Janis perform and would love to get the experience. Mary captures that Janis magic, and makes it her own. The whole cast is probably amazing! It was a great idea to make a Janis Joplin show about her, and all the people who influenced her. Although Janis’s body is dead, her soul and music lives on.
