This is super interesting, basically Angron saying his reason for ordering the implantation of the Butcher Nails was a test to see who would be ballsy enough to resist him, like he resisted on Nuceria. I think this is really self aware of Angron, since he feels its in his nature to resist but also seems trapped to not be able to do so, he puts his sons in the situations to do what he wishes he could. Like he knows he's messed up, but wants better for his legion. It's funny how he insults them by calling them the Emperor's dogs, but probably likes them more than his traitor sons for fighting back against their destruction. Saving him would have meant taking that choice away from him. This is purely my own speculation, but I sincerely believe Angron was so ruined by what the rulers of Nuceria had done to him that the only thing the Emperor could have done to earn Angron's loyalty would have been to respect his wish and let him die.

I feel so bad for the HH era world eaters, they’re like abused children desperately seeking the approval of a drunken father who blames all his problems on them. Perturabo was similarly rancid and cruel but for angron his sons seemed to genuinely want his love and approval and were willing to go to any extreme to achieve that. Maybe it has something to do with his supposedly compassionate nature that was completely drowned out by the nails. Usually astartes would inherit their primarchs personality so perhaps that is why they were so desperate to have a relationship that so many others got to have with their “fathers”. I do hope that they make a chapter of “unknown origin” that’s got hints to them being sons of angron just like the Blood Ravens are heavily implied to be sons of magnus.

Oh my gosh man. I have listened to this story at least a hundred times, and i still get new insights on the story telling. When angron comes for varus and asks him "do you have something to tell me?" Varus assumes that the primarch heard his outcry. But when varus starts to ask why, asking why he would be betrayed, Angron gets annoyed and silences him. Like he's specifically looking for one thing from him and is irritated he didnt get it. But then Varus says it. The thing he wanted to hear from all the others, who wasted their last breaths asking useless questions. Getting the courage to finally speak up and speak his true mind. Angron gave Varus approval, because at that moment, he became a true son to Angron. He HATED him, just as Angron hated his own father. Thats why he did all he had done to his legion. To show them why he had to betray the emperor. To turn them into the rabid dogs the emperor turned angron into. This story, cry havok. It is truly one of the best things ive ever had the privelage to experience.

This reminds me of another story about Angron I’m having trouble finding again. I don’t remember if it was official or fan-made. It was about the Emperor confiding in a Custodes that he intentionally led Angron to hate him, as a means to prolong Angron’s life. It was presented that, basically, the Nails were in too deep, and the Emperor hadn’t the means at the time to safely remove them. But he wagered he might later. The Emperor was very confident that if he took away Angron’s motivation-the protection of his gladiators and hated of the Riders-by intervening in that battle, his son’s anger and bloodlust would subside, and his empathic tendencies would take over. And as such, the nails would multiply in their toll on his mind, furious that Angron no longer did as they wanted. And so the Emperor gave Angron a new target for his hatred: himself, if only as a means to buy time to try and fix things later. The Emperor compared what the nails had transformed Angron into to a shark; to a predator that would die if it stopped moving, stopped hunting, stopped fixating on a target. Does this ring a bell for anyone else here, lol?

What did the World Eater think when just moments away, locking eyes with a human rebel in an underground bunker on Istvan 3 did the shockwaves of the first virus bombs shook the ground above him? What did the Death Guard think when his brothers in the warrior lodge found his loyalty to the Primarch wanting, an instant before his body is consumed by the life eater virus? What ran through the mind of the Son of Horus as he heard his father, the War Master, betrayed the Emperor? Personal conflicts and mental breakdowns are why I’m here.

Can't believe I discovered 40k only a few months ago I've always loved fantasy, Star Wars (Not current canon), Lord of the Rings, Warcraft, Starcraft, Warhammer Fantasy, Runeterra, Westeros and so on But 40k is definitely, by far my favorite and its not even close Angron has one of the most interesting stories, what a shame he was made a Demon and what a shame he had the butchers nails implanted, hope somehow, he gets reverted to what he should have been, by the Emperor, although it is utterly extreamly unlikely.

This Angron sounds exactly like how I imagined. Also The question asked to 6:25 Ultramarines 13:13 White Scars 20:14 Blood Angels (I can just imagine that after this part it just goes from sunshine over a scorched battlefield with the blood angel asking him that question back with a raised eyebrow and we skip back to that dark staircase area and it's just the silhouette of pure murder itself and two scornful eyes.)

More World Eaters please man. Your rendition of them is great. Someething with Kharn for Betrayer would be great. Maybe the scene of him pulping Erebus

If there is ever a movie made on 40k, I hope you get to voice a World Eater. Talk about contagious rage.

I would be honoured to lend my rage to an official project one day!

I have always loved, pitied and respected Angron and his sons. Theirs is a story of true loss, and only the foolish who skim the very surface mock these destroyer of cities, these hounds of war. Only the foolish miss the tragedy that is the World Eaters history.

I have to say, you guys always find a cool new angle to tell a story in the 40k universe. It makes my mind wonder about all the possibilities of further stories.

The last part of the video with Angron is PEAK 25:34. I come back every once in a while just to listen to how good it is. I love it!!!

This story is excellent and your narration is fantastic. Its neither over the top, nor cringe. I have no idea how you do it. Your narration tells me exactly what's going only clearly while also coloured by the correct emotion. I am immersed with Verus as he faces Angron. Be proud. For you are clearly one of the best remembrancers of the Emperors KZbin.

This is awesome, I've always found the betrayal of Istvann III really overlooked compared to V. Plus I really liked the thought that not all the traitor legions turned and willing to betray the Imperium.

Amen. A true son of any father like myself knows it is most important to be independent and love ones own courage and the rule of right and wrong we all feel and know to do what's right especially when I'm(father) wrong, if you truly believe in what I have taught you think for yourself. Always

He cuts the link and I know I will never speak to him again...dude the way you voice this shit is amazing...the way you lead it to the climax is just perfection 👌 So full of fkn sadness/emotion lmao I've been listening over and over to each of these videos at work and its just great. None of it gets old. Ya miss things sometimes and its almost a whole new story when you find it lol That ending 😭😤😤😩

They gave themselves over to the implantation of the nails to be closer to their primarch. Believing him to be better than a high-rider. Perhaps the sergeant's last words gave Angron pause. A moment of doubt. A moment, before it was washed away by the nails.
