Cry Of Fear Ending 7 (Co-Op Mode Ending)

Probably the happiest ending in Cry of fear

It all makes sense now. Simon must have gone through everything that would lead up to endings 2 or 3. The cops would be there to read his suicide note, causing them to become interested in his case (which lead to the co-op mode events). Somehow activating something similar to the butterfly effect from reading his book, the cops were brought to a time before Simon was crippled by David. They manage to arrest David before he could crash into Simon, which most likely got him sent into a rehabilitation center, leading up to the events of "Afraid of Monsters".

In my opinion, it couldn't have been ending 1, as that ending's suicide note would have the cops thinking he's a typical crazed gunman, and ending 4 was where the cops were killed. It would kinda make sense of ending 2 was the canon single player ending that lead into the events of co-op mode since he wasn't so spiteful in that one. Basically, my theory is this. CoF single player ending-2, then CoF co-op, and then Afraid of monsters happens after that.

You do have a point. Ending 4 was an okay ending, though it kinda implied "you can do better than this". So I kinda tried to stay away from ending 4, since it would basically cut off any possibility from David Leatheroff getting the help he would've gotten in "Afraid of Monsters"...and that Simon would have to have lived with the guilt of what happened to those two cops. I made the theory up from my first comment so that it would make the canonicity of the co-op ending logical. To see Simon with Sophie really did leave a good feeling at the end, knowing that everything would be okay for him for the most part. Also, watching David get arrested may or may not be how he got sent to the rehabilitation center/hospital. Now as to the canonicity of AoF's endings, I'm not sure, but thats a whole different story there. I really am enjoying this discussion. :p

So pretty much, one of the four endings has to be canon (i'm betting it's ending 2). Lil fun fact to end the debate, the carcass boss represents Simon's possessiveness and lack of emotional stability. Get rid of that and explains how Simon is a little calmer in ending 3. The gun that Purnell asks for is Simon's hatred and spite towards everyone. Giving up the gun would mean him giving up his hatred. It would explain why he isn't as angry as he would be in ending 2. Keep or rid of both, and endings 1 and 4 speaks for itself. It's been fun talking about this Viper. :)

This is by far the best ending. Because first of all, he got the girl, he still can walk, didn't kill anyone, or didn't even have to make the Cry of Fear in the first place (all the things that you played through is just a figment of his imagination.)

Actually no, I think that this is before Simon gets crippled since he isn't crippled and he is walking the streets at night and the cops was looking for him so that the accident wouldn't happen to him and thats why in the end he is walking with Sofie :)

I Am very sure this is the best ending in the game. -Sophie Becomes Simon's Wife. -Simon doesn't get Crippling Depression. (no joke.) -David (ending 5 easter egg) The guy on the car gets Arrested and Punished. -Nobody dies. -Simon has a normal and good life.

Holy shit... definetly best ending of them all... Cry of Fear is truly a very disturbing experience (but I don't regret have got it) and most of the endings are depressing... but this one is the one that makes everything fine.

my take on this...in the man hunt ending they talk about it being a theory, IF we had done this we could have stopped it from happening...but here they sound certain, like they had actually done it. This is a possible true good/happy ending given by the devs, since we beat the main campaign and got the good/better sweet ending for simon...yet not everyone is happy, people are dead, and simon lives the rest of his life crippled, alone, and locked away in a mental hospital. So WHAT if we did better? what if the cops actually did it? and ended up ACATAULLY doing it? No longer saying what if but NOW its done...also David might not be the driver of the car that hit Simon, given its a joke ending. I just like to think we fought long and hard, going through hell and back multiple times for Simons sake FINALLY reaching the end we wanted. One where everyone can live happily ever after.

Ending 4 may be considered the ''good'' ending, but I don't know, man. Ending up in a mental hospital and Sophie finding someone else instead of giving Simon another chance isn't what I'd call ''good''. It's more of a neutral ending than anything else. It may not be canon but this is the only actual good ending in my opinion

I'm confused, why sophie is with him in this ending? She rejected him in the normal endings because she only sees him as a friend. What does the crash and the depression have to do with this? Did sophie just reject him because of the crash? Edit: I got better english now

It’s probably because Simon would move on from the rejection since he was never struggling with the crash. In single player, the real Simon is broken, and still was even before the crash. But Simon was just a lonely guy with some issues that later spiraled into him becoming a more cynical danger. Maybe Sophie and Simon rekindled in some way.
