The song got across so much raw emotion by itself, but to find out the real story behind the lyrics is just so heartbreaking. Dariel, honey, you’re such an inspiration. ☺️ Cool, 🤗 I have to write to get it out when it's really bad! But music is my #1 go to, then cooking, bike riding, or walking by the water are my peace! I got to get back to my meditation app to help quiet my mind! I also have been in counseling for about a year and a half and it was the best decision I made it was financially on hold for too long! So grateful I can put it in my budget now because I've always been worth it but now I know it for myself! 🙌🏽 Thanks again for receiving the love!!! 💜

Stephanie G. That’s great I am truly happy for you with all that you have done to change your mindset and help you. I started counseling back again I’m not going as much because it does hurt financially. I’ll be going back again soon enough I do the bike riding and working out listening to music I find that it makes me think even more way too much I realize I still hold on to a lot. It would help if I just had someone to vent to and release the stress and the depression or go through and the weight that I feel on a day to day bases when I can’t write. You’re welcome keep spreading the love and the positivity through out this world it does help and give ppl a light that everything can be ok.

For five years and since I was fourteen I've been struggling with treatment resistant depression. I know what it's like to not have any friends, but I do have a family that supports me and I don't think I would be here without them. This song had me in tears so many times and seeing where it originated from actually made it even the more emotional. This song sings to my heart in so many ways. Wow, I had absolutely no idea, this story has knocked my socks off. The beauty of Dariel’s soul truly shines through in the song. I worked on a version of it at the piano while I was really unwell a few years back, because it really spoke to me when I heard it in the show. The experience of doing so was both moving and cathartic. My ten year old daughter heard me singing from her bed and, for her next dance performance, chose this song to perform to. Her teacher interpreted the music absolutely beautifully for her and her performance left everyone in tears. Holy shit. I’ve been listening to this song on repeat because this pandemic has my life completely fucked up, but then I saw this video and I lost it! I was born with a heart defect, have had open heart surgery, a stroke, and am currently dealing with possible fibromyalgia. I’m still dealing with the fact that my mother refused to come see me in the hospital after my stroke because she claims it was punishment from god for my “ungodly lifestyle choices” (I’m bisexual & polyamorous) and I’m now realizing how much of a burden I’m going to be on anyone I allow myself to get close to. Especially romantically. Every single struggle this beautiful girl has felt resonates so hard with me. Already loved this song, but damn I’m claiming it as mine now. 🖤 Thank you.

I loved this song from the moment I heard it, all the emotions behind it but now hearing the story I love it even more. I lost my 14 yr old niece May 28, 2013 to cancer, how I wish she would have beat it too like this young lady did. But God knows all things and although the pain of losing her is still raw after all these years I know that there was a purpose and I don’t have to know that purpose.
