The Book Thief hit me hard as well. I was reading the last chunk of it while sitting in the living room with my husband and I had to get up and leave the room because I could not stop crying and I was afraid he was going to think I was having an emotional breakdown or something. Usually, if I do cry during books, I can keep it to tears rolling down my cheeks, but I was literally borderline sobbing during this one. So good. I also had a good little cry during THAT part in The Knife of Never Letting Go (haven't read the rest of the series yet but now gearing myself up for it).

I made the mistake of reading the last 100 pages of The book thief on a friday night, during which I cried like a baby, and then immediately watching the movie right after, where I cried even more. It was a very emotional night.

Esme Gi Gi Genevieve Squalor books are made to be enjoyed, in whatever manner people choose!! Live & let live! If somebody takes joy or pride in having a shelf of books they can look at and say they have read, its hardly anybody else’s place to say how they should feel about their books! Personally, I love looking at my shelves and seeing how many books I’ve read! It brings me joy to reminisce on the experiences each book gave me, & I also feel a sense of accomplishment! Taking a look at all the shelves full of books that I’ve read makes me feel like I’ve made some progress & makes my TBR feel a little less impossible! So I don’t think anybody should tell anybody else what a book is for. A book is for whatever you want it to be for, to be enjoyed in whichever way a person chooses! :):)

I looked like Justin Long crying on New Girl when I read A Monster Calls. My eyes were so puffy the next day. Me Before You by JoJo Moyes is one of those satisfying cry books. By the time everything comes to a close, there is a real sense of peace even though the events of that book were heart breaking. The book I cried the absolute hardest over however, was Bridge to Terabithia by Katherine Patterson. It was put your book down and sob crying.

I have never bawled as much as I did while reading All The Bright Places. I couldn't stop crying, literally. I think it was because I related so very deeply to that book and the characters within it, and all I wanted was for everyone to get better and feel better. And because in the end he had people reaching out, who cared, but it didn't matter. It was the truth of the situation and the truth in life a lot of times. And it's sad and it sucks and it made me think of all the people I almost left behind but didnt and made me think of all the life people still have to live and how things can get better. I got it right after it came out from my university so I did not know the ending would be that tragic.

when you described how you cried about the book thief I had to immediatly think of it as well cause I cried sooo much when reading this... and then you actually meaned the same book! and Ari and Dante made me cry a lot too... all the feels... but I'm someone to cry easily (and most time pretty messy) about books or movies... yeah Harry Potter too I don't deny it

MY STEPMOM INSISTED I RUN ERRANDS WITH HER WHILE I WAS READING CLOCKWORK PRINCESS. I STARTED SOBBING IN THE CAR AND THEN CRIED ALL THE WAY THROUGH THE MALL AND CRIED HARDER WHEN I GOT HOME. Other books that made me cry in public: (some throw back) Breaking Dawn, Betrayal by P.C. and Kristin Cast, TFIOS, The Half Blood Prince, The Last Olympian, Allegiant. My copy of Breaking Dawn is actually tear stained and its shameful.

I literally cry in every book i read, like if its super overwhelming i would cry like in a funeral, or if its touching i would also cry like a tear or two. If its just a good book that ended in a great way i would have teary eyes... Yes i always cry and i like it when i do cause it just shows how beautiful is the book

I bawled during class while reading 'Where The Red Fern Grows'. It's such a beautiful story of a young boy and his two dogs. I recommend it even though it's an older book!

Nora O'Neill oh man, that was the worst part. I actually don't understand why more people cried for Prim than they did for Finnick
@SophieRussellMusic9 жыл бұрын
Nora O'Neill *spoilers* I didn't cry at either of those parts actually, I cried at the bit where Peeta is rescued but he despises and fears Katniss because in my opinion someone you love having a mental illness where they can't recognise you for the person you really are to them is worse than them dying, because you may never get closure.

SPOILER ALERT (HARRY POTTER HALF BLOOD PRINCE) I was a mess when Dumbledore died. It was like three in the morning and I was in the page before reading about Dumbledore's death and I thought I'll read this page and the next and I'll go to sleep (as I had school the next day.) But when I read it I was like NO CAN'T GO TO SLEEP NOW. I went to my kitchen whilst crying (after my sister threw me out of our room because I woke her up) I then woke my mum up, she was worried and asked me what was going on I told her and she just hugged me whilst laughing incredibly loud. CAN ANYONE RELATE? (DON'T KNOW WHY I'M SCREAMING JUST AM.)

I follow what you're saying about Mockingjay, and I feel you. I cried a lot for the not-as-big thing, but when the bigger thing happened later, I shed a little single tear.

you were right about Aristotle and Dante, i cried! and you were right about the family element, i loved it! and that's exactly what made me cry lol. It's one of my favorite books now, since not only it is beautiful, but also it's the only book that had ever made me cry till the date (in public, trying to hide the tears, yeah..) thanks a lot to let me meet it♥

I have to say, I pretty much never cry when watching movies and I don't often cry for things happening in my life, but boy do I cry easily whenreading! I mean you're in those characters heads and you can feel what they feel and it's so awful sometimes! The most cry-worthy book to me was TFiOS! I read it in one sitting, and when I came to the kitchen because we were eating my mom saw my face and was like "what happened?! Are you okay?!" and I started explaining that I'd read this book and wanted to explain the plot and BAM here were the tears again! I, a 20yo woman, was bawling in our kitchen because of fictional characters, and my family thought I was crazy! Haha I'm surprised you didn't mention Mistborn! Gosh, I wasn't bawling but it was definitely more than a single tear! It wasn't just a "sadness" cry though, I was just so moved, especially by Vin. I got watery eyes even re-reading it haha.
