Cry Baby is a conceptual album, in which the story of the same character is followed, dealing with family issues, love relationships, self-discovery, and others, I recommend that you watch all the videos in the order of the tracklist Her second album, K-12 is also still with the Cry Baby character, but more school oriented, and she made a movie out of the album, I hope you can react to that one too!

I love Melanie Martinez so much, it's nice seeing new fan coming in and enjoying her music! I've been listening to her songs since I was around 10 Her songs really helped me through life in school because I got bullied a lot for my weight, round face, and for the type of stuff I was into (like horror movies, video games, and even the books I like to read). It got to the point that I had so much low self-esteem that around 6th grade at 12 I decided that the first thing I'll do when I turn 18 is get plastic surgery and dress more like the society's beauty standards that way people won't constantly look at me with such judgement and maybe boys will actually love and be in a relationship with me. Then I watched her Mrs. Potato head video, I would watch more and more then it became a wake up call to me that I shouldn't change who I am just so that people can like me. I ended going to therapy and slowly over time I've gotten better and better. I'm 17 now, a junior in high school, I feel a lot more confident and happy with who I am. Yes I still feel those insecurities once in a while bringing back the trauma I had to endure but I remember the music video and Melanie's songs which calm me down. Now I'm just an overweight, socially awkward, Hispanic girl trying to pass school to get into my dream college and career.

u prob found this out later buut tag youre it ''can anybody hear me when im hidden underground'' that sentence means like she's tryna say that the girl being chased by the kidnapper and rapist (theyre the same person) is screaming for help but nobody is coming and nobody is hearing her so she means "i scream but nobody can hear me" as she says later in the song the undeground part explained is that she means that when you are underground either on the basement cavern or whatever you're never heard because well ur underground ITS HARD TO EXPLAIN so even if she's in a place anyone can be in she feels like she's unheard like she's underground (also in the song she says she's running through the parking lot and most parking lots r underground so even if ppl usually is in the parking lot everyone is ''ignoring her'' or no one is there just like underground not only that but it can also mean that ppl are mistaking what she's saying like "help me help me someone's chasing me" and in crybaby album she's a child so ppl may have thought she was playing tag you're it with her father or someone else hence the rapist/kidnapper saying ''tag youre it'' for it to just look like they're playing edit: in tag you're it melanie (crybaby) got poison from someone working at a grocery store in milk and cookies the kidnapper wants her to make cookies and she put the poison on it

Crybaby meanings/interpretations 🍼 💦 (This album follows the story of Crybaby's childhood, her family, love and more. Crybaby is played by Melanie.) Crybaby 👶🏻 - Being a vulnerable person and being dismissed as weak. Shows the birth of Crybaby. Dollhouse 💒- Having a messy, broken family but to others they see them as happy and perfect. Her family puts on a front to the outsiders but only she know what's it's really like. Her father cheats on her mother, her brother is a druggie and her mother is an alcoholic, Crybaby is the only sane person. Sippy cup 🍼- Your actions still matter/count even if you try to cover them up. The example Crybaby uses for her alcoholic mother is how she drugs Crybaby with fluid in a sippy cup to forget how her mother murdered her father. If you were to re-phrase the lyrics you'd get something like, " Lies are still lies if you cover them up." Carousel 🎠- Crybaby feels trapped in her relationship and feels it's not going anywhere ; they just keep going round and round like a carousel. It shows how their love is unhealthy but addictive. Alphabet boy 🎓- This song is about one of Melanie's exes who commented on her song writing skills, telling her she should add poetry. Soap 🧼- This story shows Crybaby's first love, she gets attached and says 'I love you' too soon and feels she should wash her mouth out with soap. Training wheels 🚴- Again Crybaby's first love, this one can be interpreted two ways. Crybaby pushing her lover to move onto the next step of their relationship and the both of them losing their virginity. Pity Party 🎉 - Crybaby throws a birthday party but nobody arrives so she eats all the cake herself. Tag, you're it 🐺- After her unsuccessful party, Crybaby goes to a shop being followed by a wolf in an ice-cream van. Being drugged by his ice-cream, she gets abducted by him and taken to his secret lair. Milk and cookies 🍪- Crybaby is forced to make milk and cookies in the wolfs lair and she tries to plan her escape. In the shop, a woman gave her a blue substance which she puts in the cookie mix and poisons the wolf, she manages to escape. Pacify her 🤫- Crybaby is in competition for a boy with another woman. He prefers Crybaby but ends up with the other woman after being aroused by her body. Mrs. Potato head 🥔- Crybaby feels insecure about her body after seeing advertisements for diet pills and blonde wigs. The story follows another woman who gets surgery for her man. Her surgery fails and her man hates her face, in disgust he cheats on her with another woman. Mad hatter 🐰- Crybaby tastes a magic liquid that makes her go through a trance. After waking up she gains a power to do whatever she pleases while turning her eyes black. The lady who gave her the blue drink also has this power. She accepts that's she's different and crazier than everyone else. __________________________ Deluxe tracks do not follow Crybaby's story, they are a stand alone. Playdate 🛼- She's confused why her partner is distant and can't figure them out. She leaves them but soon realises if they learn to communicate the relationship can work. Teddy bear 🧸- Follows domestic abuse and the s/o turning from a nice comforting person into somebody who's violent. Cake 🎂- She feels like she's being used for sex and he sees her as a toy and nothing more. She shows affection towards him but the emotion is never reciprocated. That's it, hope this helped! There could be way more adaptations to the song meanings as they're quite deep. I've been a Crybaby for about five years and this is what I've gathered from myself and the fandom! 😊
