If you want a more serious/adult Japanese BL, maybe try ‘Old Fashioned Cupcake’ for grown up relationship stuff, or the movie ‘The Cornered Mouse Dreams of Cheese’ for smut and angst. Cherry Magic is an absolute classic but has a similar innocent romance feel to Kieta Hatsukoi with 30 year olds.

Ossan's love is also great .Season 1 is good, but season 2 is amazing. Season 2 just provided a great example how a good writing makes sequels work and was even able to outshine the first season. What i love about this show that it presents and explores well all kinds of relationships whether it's colleagues, friends, couple with age differences, gay couples. Great combination of drama, comedy and superb acting. My personal favorite among japanese bls, followed by Old Fashion Cupcake, and Cherry Magic.

I don't know much about volleyball but I feel like they absolutely would be considered as jocks, especially in Japan. If you're under 1m85/1m90 (don't know in inches maybe 6"2/6"3 ?) you're almost considered short in that sport. Besides out all the sports you mentioned they would definitely be among the one I really don't want to get hit by 😅

This is random since you havent watched any thai bls yet, but i really recommend Moonlight Chicken! It's a mature drama, the cinematography and acting are great, I think you'd love it!

I feel like Japanese BL tends to go to one extreme or the other with how much intimacy they show (I'm thinking of something like Bokura no micro na shuumatsu in contrast). Honestly even with their hetero couples you often don't get more than one or two totally static, lips tightly closed kisses. But it is certainly frustrating for certain dramas where you feel the characters are mature enough to be physically progressing their relationship. I agree that it's not so much an issue for this one since the tone is so innocent. My personal BL recommendation if you haven't seen it is Not Me, which is Thai!

If you want a jp bl thats actually mature and has complex characters AND you actually have to use your brain to understand said chartcters I CAN ONLY RECOMMEND "My beautiful man" ITS SO GOOD.
