This steel guitar playing reminds me so much of my daddy’s steel guitar playing. He could hear a song once and play the song in it’s entirety, then would record himself playing alongside the original track on a reel-to-reel. He would play it and record it on a cassette tape for listening to while on road trips to visit my grandparents in S. GA. Ain’t nothing prettier than a steel guitar solo in the middle of a song. Thanks for bringing back some wonderful memories of my daddy, Ronald E. Rigg (1937-1999).
@Avacarho3 жыл бұрын
@John Herb Yes, it is in a league of of it’s own. Today, there might be 1,000 guitarists and maybe 100 pedal steel guitarists in a group of 1 million musicians..Out of both kinds of the guitarists, there might be 10% who are really great. Btw, my daddy also played the harmonica well, but his steel guitar playing was way better. What’s a real shame is that Tony Browne passed away this year. So that the number of greats has dropped again.

It warms the heart knowing that there are still musicians out there who are playing this style, and also that there are over 2 millions people who have watched this vid .. Whether we play country, blues, classical, hard rock, metal, rock-a-billy, jazz, etc, we're all bonded by this love of the guitar , and the obsession with string gauge, tube amps, picks/finger picks/no picks, vintage gear and the lifelong quest for THAT tone ...

This is one of the better clips of a peddle steel guitar in operation, where we can see all the movements and coordination needed to produce the beautiful music. It's not enough to just see the hands as most people often don't realise just how much more is going on below the fretboard.
