"I did what was best for me." Oof, ouch, ow, my feelings. It's so unfair of this game to take the ha ha funny mermaid girl with the The Bones and turn her into a compelling, sympathetic "villain" What made this harder for me, was going through her second Somnium, and we get to the final questions. In the first somnium, I chose the mother, I chose to lie to make money, I chose the best friend, I chose to be a part of a plan, but I did not choose to get revenge. I was only one, very important split second decision from doing everything she would have done. I know that's not necessarily what will happen to everyone who plays this game, but for me that couldn't have been more special if I had tried to do it.

Tuning into these streams were an absolute blast! There is actually one more bit of post game that the game has kind of. The game adds an extra appendix entry with a phrase. Entering that phrase to the real life Hidden Bats website gives a bit more info about Frayers and details on where a potential sequel could go. I recommend checking it out, it's a very interesting read!

Overall I enjoyed the game - stayed up until 5am some nights playing it. However, I ultimately think I enjoyed the journey more than the conclusion. The twist relied on a lot of contrivances to make sense, and I feel like a few character arcs from the first game weren't really followed up on. Date, Iris, and Hitomi barely react for instance, and you think they'd react more to the fact that he went missing for six years AGAIN. Ryuki's "death" didn't have much of an emotional impact on me either, because I knew right away that he would survive and show up in the final scene, like Aiba. That being said, the game's overall mystery, characters, and humour still made this a fun game. Thank you for playing it!

I think this is mostly a result of the game wanting to be as newcomer-friendly as possible, which I do not think needed to happen at all When playing the original game, I never once thought "Man, I wish they did more with this character". I don’t know if any of you have noticed but Uru’s design is quite similar to Johan Liebert’s from “Monster”, and not just their designs; but also their backstory. Both were monsters on their own style, both were orphaned, both had a traumatic childhood, and psychologically damaged. If you haven’t read/watched ‘Monster’, I highly recommend you to take a look; and you will understand what I’m talking about 👍👍.

But I wonder... Since we have to play through the game, we can only imitate the power of one who can truly "Fray." Nothing to say, although Kizuna has the same problem And despite being really close and basically sisters by this point, her and Mizuki have? 2 scenes together? 3? They retcon Amame's age so she can be Iris' classmate and it basically turns out to not matter because they barely talk to each other. you could've had her stay 20 and not much would've changed i don't think?

Finally finished the game via your VODs, I did the same with the 1st game when it released so decided to just continue the trend but with your playthrough as a "blind" experience. Just like you I enjoyed this game quite a bit more than the first and surprisingly (for myself) Ryuuki was a really big reason for that. So much that the lack of him in 2nd part negatively affected my experience as well. Considering that Mizuki was my favourite character in the 1st game that was a really pleasant surprise that I enjoyed Ryuuki's part of the game that much more, so it's not all bad. I still wish there's an intermission or two from Ryuuki's point of view during 2nd part of the game though. Then again, pretty sure all kind of plot progression structures were considered but due to the risk of making THE plot twist more obvious we've got what we have now. That big twist of the game was certainly on another level than the one in the 1st game and is much closer to the best stuff the main writer (Uchikoshi) did in the past so I'm definitely going to check more reactions to that part of the game (among others) from now on.

After carefully reviewing some events, I come to the conclusion that Tokiko was actually a heroine and right all along. Point A: Tearer's name. Dahlia and Boat were given in separate timelines. Dahlia in which Komeji survived. Boat in the true route where Kizuna was bait so they all go down to the Naix cave. Ryuki should not know the name but only does so because we, the players, inserted it. Point B: Frayer We inserted the name much how we inserted the Nil Number. Information passed on through time for Ryuki but because we are the Frayer. Point C: When to use the Nil Number. I doubt its a coincidence that we get the Nil Number AFTER we defeated Tearer and insert it BEFORE it all goes to shit. Tokiko gives us the chance to insert the number and effectively prevents Tearer's plan from truly beginning. The Nil Number puts a stop to Tearer. Her last words: I dont need to say it, I think to be sure but when we stop the NI, Tokiko appears on screen and says, Plan Success. Thats an odd thing to say or to even appear at the end. But it makes sense if you consider that NOW, the path to the Nil Number is clear. And Tokiko is right about the simulation, Tearers name and the Nil Number confirm the simulation. Tokiko's true plan was for the Frayer and Ryuki to reach the Nil Number. And what happens when we insert it? Again, Tearers plan is prevented but not only that, people live happily, Kizuna can even walk. And Tokiko reached Moksha. This also fits into what she said the second time we met her. Since its a simulation, finding a seam should allow Naix to perform miracles. And the Nil Number is just that. Creating a seperate timeline in which Kizuna can even walk and generally created a happier world. This may even make sense in the context of Fray to Free. Fray can mean fight. Fight to free. We fought Tearer and earned a world free from Tearer with the Nil Number. I firmly believe Tearer wanted the NI but Tokiko's plan went further with Tearer being a pawn himself so the Frayer can insert the Nil Number. It undoes everything, she created better world where all this despair never happened and herself reaching Moksha.

I echo the other comments; if you like escape rooms, and thus writing style, definitely recommend 999 (personally prefer the ds version, though harder to stream)

I hate to say it, because I do somewhat like Bibi, but if she was removed and the timeskip was shortened to where Mizuki could look the same and still be Abis I think the game would have been better off. Having the twist be player exclusive was kinda lame, and it would have been more interesting if Mizuki and Ryuki were mixing up past and present when telling their side of the story. This could be because everyone at the game show contracted TC-PERGE or somehow in the early events of the game.

The secret ending finally made me understand 100% the mindset behind a lesser evil for a greater good. At first, this transformation was scary. But after the adrenaline was gone and I kept my head on the objective...it was beautiful. I won't deny it felt a little wrong all of that happiness. Because I felt so lonely. But then Tama, Aiba, Mizuki and Bibi acknowledged the memories's authenticy...it made me feel better. Though Tokito's video makes me wonder. Was she asking which timeline it was true ? Or was she asking if the player is the character or the other way around ? Personally, Tokito was the character I related to most. That's why although I wished she was less selfish...I hope she finds what she was searching for. Although, maybe I should have denied her salvation. It should not be done so selfishly and so ruthlessly. At least I want to believe it shouldn't.

Couldn't help but think this game was fairly disappointing coming off of the original. AI 1 knew how to write a tightly written, cohesive story that utilized all of it's characters effectively, with a strong emotional core. AI 2's plotting was messier, the mystery started out interesting but lost steam as it went on, it barely knew what to do with a lot of it's characters both new and returning, the alternate endings mostly feel shoehorned in, and the Big Twist, if I may be blunt, sucked. I think this is a consequence of trying to be "bigger" and "greater" than the original when it didn't really need to be. There are some things I like. Some of the new characters are pretty good (Komeji and his family in particular, as well as Tokiko and Ryuki), the presentation has overall improved significantly, we got some really excellent Somniums, the murder mystery itself is mostly well crafted (although the timeline twist hurts it a bit), a lot of the humor is on point, it knew how to grab your attention much quicker than the original game's story did (even if it can't really maintain it the whole way through), and the Diverge ending was actually kinda sick. But overall, if I were to give the original an easy 10/10 no question, as it's not perfect but what flaws it does have are pretty negligible to me, I'd probably give AI2 closer to...a 7 maybe? It's a fine game overall, but I'll definitely be more hesitant to pick up AI3 immediately Also Invincible Rainbow Arrow > Half to Whole. I don't make the facts, I just tell them

I was utterly floored with how every intresting thing built up during Ryuki's part was just nothing in the end, and most of Mizuki's part I really just flat out disliked. Ryuki's part had the same atmosphere and style of the first but then Mizuki's seems like it just wanted to be Marvel bs or something. Not to mention all the stuff not even explained. Hands down the worst and most dissapointing game by Team Zero Escape, I legit only think Ryuki's part was good, Mizuki's I'd rather forget. And yes ZTD is better, but I always thought it was nowhere near as rough as others did.

@@kannyboy1847 Yeah, Ryuki got *massively* screwed over by the writers in this game. His part of the story had so many interesting set-ups making me hyped for a really cool narrative, but instead of getting equally interesting pay-offs in the second part we got Mizuki's Bizzare Adventure featuring clones, Two-Face and Dante from Devil May Cry series - it's insane how hard they dropped the ball. On the topic of which game - Nirvana Initiative or Zero Time Dilemma - is worse, I'd say that, objectively speaking, they are more or less equally bad for pretty much the same reasons. Both of them are guilty of: - Having an insanely contrived plot-twist that can only exist because of bad writing (timeline shenanigans in NI, Delta in ZTD); - Retconning some stuff from the previous game (Mizuki's past/Date's face/Amame's age/Naix being real in NI, Radical-6 outbreak happening only in one timeline and not all of them and probably a few other things I don't remember in ZTD); - Introducing plot elements that feel random or out of place in the established setting (cloning/genetic modification in NI, surprise alien technology in ZTD); - The main villain having really dumb motivation for commiting their crimes (self-explanatory in both cases, in my opinion); - Characters behaving in unrealistic or stupid ways because it is convenient for the narrative (relationships between Date-Hitomi-Iris and Iris-Mizuki-Kizuna-Amame in NI that are basically nonexistent despite them supposedly being very close, a fuckton of forced drama in ZTD like Junpei/Eric randomly being an asshole for no apparent reason or Sigma sometimes forgetting that he is actually sixty and acting like an emotional twenty year-old). There are also issues unique to each game on top of all that, but I think my point still stands, even if you disagree with some of what I've said. So in the end it's mostly a matter of personal preference. I like Nirvana Initiative more than Zero Time Dilemma because of all the "creepy" stuff this game has and a few select characters, but if you prefer ZTD - hey, more power to you.

Man, Nirvana Initiative... Even after playing through it myself and watching a few other people experience the latest installment of Uchikoshi's Wild Ride, I still don't know how to feel about it. On the one hand, this game *does* have a lot of really cool stuff in it, arguably way more than the first one. It definitely excels in the "creepiness" department - whether it's the crazy faces everyone makes coupled with some truly amazing voice acting, Ryuki's "episodes", a few select Somnia or Tokiko (just Tokiko in general) - which is really great. It also has some stand-out characters that I like a lot (like Ryuki or Amame), and the meta-aspect of it all was... interesting, to say the least. This AI: The Somnium Files all in all feels noticeably more ambitious compared to it's predecessor, and I can respect their attempts to try out something new and original instead of sticking to the same thing in the sequel. But on the other hand, everything else just sucks *so* bad - at least in my opinion. The story is dumb and nonsensical, most of it existing only to justify the "main plot twist" (Tearer's motive for commiting his crimes turned out to be even worse than Saito's, somehow), the mystery ended up being super weak and uninteresting, the action scenes are just as pointless as they were in the first game, but now there are more of them and they take way longer, the ending is awful and once again doesn't have the balls to actually allow any proper stakes, the character-specific routes feel like a complete afterthought with nothing worthwhile going on, and the aforementioned plot twist is completely dogshit even by Uchikoshi's standards, bordering on some ZTD-level of contrived bullshit. I already talked about my hatred of how they treated "spoiler stuff" from the original AI a couple of videos ago, so there is no need to repeat myself here. Overall, it's *pretty fucking bad*, all things considered. I didn't like the first game very much for many of the same reasons, but Nirvana Initiative makes it look like a goddamn masterpiece.

I have mixed feelings about all the somniums in this game. Despise Chikara & Iris's, they felt like Persona 5 Palaces then the Somniums like the 1st game. They felt more personal & helping them therapeutically. Even talking to AIBA. Anyone else notice that?

I can't say I felt that way, I really liked both of those Somnium. They have unique puzzles that (while not difficult) allow for a lot of creative uses of the tools and some funny dialogue. They're great to revisit in unlimited psyncs.

In this game, it feels like we're playing therapist while still getting.... some sort of info...? Gen's & Lien's are the biggest examples. Even Aiba made a joke about it at the end. It's not bad, it just feels more like P5. In the 1st game, AIBA might as well have been a ghost. Maybe it's on purpose & somniums in the future will be the same.

@@anti-roxas850 eh, I know she made that joke with that one route in Lien's somnium, but we got important info in the other route. And that's kinda what I see as the benefit of the somniums in this game, that they tend to be more useful. In the first game the somniums were more vague and abstract. Now I can see that appealing more to some people because it's more dreamlike and provides a different kind of mystery, but it frequently made me question why ABIS even exists when it seems like 9/10 times the info they got from somnium didn't really help with the case (at least not in any way that basic police work couldn't uncover). The somniums were more about moving the plot along than helping the police. In this game the info tends to be more clear and shows a direct link to where they should be looking, which kind of makes ABIS seem more practical. Chikara led them to Naix and the purpose of Bats490, and Iris led them to the execution chamber and revealed Uru's background.
