Crystal Bowersox, 24, de Elliston, Ohio, começou a cantar ainda em sua infância, quando fez Suzie Snowflake em uma peça na escola. Aos 10 anos, já era cantora profissional. Uma vez, Crystal cantou no funeral de um paraquedista e teve metade de seu pagamento feito em dinheiro e a outra metade em saltos de paraquedas.
