Taking California takes on our first cave! We drove up to the Sequoia National Park and discover what thousands of years of water can do! Crystal Cave is the biggest of the caves in the Sequoia National Park & the Kings Canyon.
My favorite part of this adventure was Carlos talking about the stalactites, but not filmed was just a few moments later the tour guide told everyone about stalactites and what they were.
Recommended for the active, the half mile hike down is steep but even harder of a trek coming up.
We took the 50 minute long family tour. Tour tickets can be purchased online and picked up at the Crystal Cave book store at the sight before the tour begins or at the park in the visitor center.
No bags, flash photography allowed and be mindful not to bring anything that has been in another cave or mine so the bats do not get White Nose Syndrome.
Happy Hiking!
Don't forget to like & subscribe for more awesome fun!

Amazing video, I wasn’t able to get tickets to Crystal, but I was lucky to see Boyden Cavern. My favorite part was seeing so much water run throughout the caves. Water brings the cave to life. I heard it’s been well over 20 years that there has been this much snowmelt and water running through the Park.

Great video! I was wondering since its cold in there, they recommend bringing a light jacket. You mention no bags? So you have to carry your jacket on the hike from the parking lot?

Thanks for the comment! The park does recommend bringing a light jacket, I can imagine in any other season than summer that cool cave breeze can be much more freezing. You can bring a bag down, but it will have to be left outside the crystal cave entrance unsupervised. We wrapped our jackets around the waste on the way down & up the cave :)

Do you think hiking sticks for an elderly person would make the hike back up easier? And perhaps taking breaks along the way?
@takingcalifornia9461
@takingcalifornia9461 3 жыл бұрын
Definitely would help. We saw some elderly on the trails so it is possible. Some areas are narrow and with a group it maybe difficult to stop.
