That song was playing in the principals office the day my parents enrolled me for Kindergarten some 39 years ago. It stuck with me every since. "Half the way" is also very nice.

My mom used to have cassettes of Crystal Gayle, Linda Rondstadt and Barbra Streisand. I remember this song so well playing in her Mustang! My mom now has stage 4 non hodgkins lymphoma and I wanted this played for her since it is one of her favorite songs and mine too. I will show her the video tomorrow. Hope you all liked it and thank you MRM for playing this for my sweet mom.

I'm sorry about your mom, Nickey. I hope she and you are well but it is 7 months later. Beautiful song. I saw Crystal at a little, very fancy winery concert. She was so much fun and just 15 or 20 feet away. At the wine after party she was the most delightful woman you could imagine. Tiny … Less than 5 feet for sure and so warm and friendly. Great night 30 years ago.

I grew up on Crystal Gayle. I would sit in the rocking chair with my big old (early 70's) headphones on and play her music on 8-track... I remember doing it when I was 4 and 5. She was my favorite!

Unique voice and vocal technique. Put it this way, when you hear her singing there’s never any question who it is.

I love listening to her. My vocal coach would say, you've been listening to Crystal Gayle again! I was supposed to be singing classical. Saw her at Sydney Iowa Rodeo in the early 1980s. Don't it make my brown eyes blue was a recent hit. She tried to sing that three times. Each time her Mike got unplugged. She finally said seems someone here doesn't want to hear this song so let's go on to the next one.

LOL Crystal Gayle has been one of my favorites since I was a little girl! And honestly Ty I've never heard this song! But it was really beautiful. "Don't it Make My Brown Eyes Blue" is probably my favorite but I also like "Talking in Your Sleep", "When I Dream", and "Why Have You Left the One You Left Me For".

I have always loved Crystal Gayle. She would let me sit in the “family” section of seating at opryland when I was a little girl. Once, an attendant tried to have us move, but my mom had to tell them Crystal said it was ok. I need to find my backstage pictures. My mom said she sent me a Christmas present one year( I have asked her as an adult if she bought it and knew it would be better than from Santa, because of how important Crystal was to me...my mom says she does not remember). It was a crystal bell(she had a shop in Nashville which had lots of crystal figurines.). I still try to see a concert every couple of years of hers.

I am not a religious person. This is the only song that really makes me feel the Holy Spirit. Just the power in her voice. She is one of my all time favorites. My mom said was born living her music (attended a concert of hers in utero). She is also a very nice lady. I would love to tell you my favorite of her songs, but it changes as I go through life experiences. Another of the songs that her voice always amazes me on is “If You Ever Change Your Mind.”

I've loved Crystal Gayles music since I was a kid. But I never heard this beautiful song before. You should check out her older, and even more famous sister, Loretta Lynn (recently deceased). Her signature song (of many), is the autobiographical "Coal Miners Daughter" She was really born and raised a coal miners daughter in Butcher Holler (Butcher Hollow), Kentucky. Two other great songs of Loretta's are the hilarious "Ones On The Way", which was one of her controversial songs of the 70s that was sometimes banned by radio (there's nothing bad in it at all, it was just not okay for radio at the time.) And "Don't Come Home a Drinking, (with lovin' on your mind)"

Long straight hair was the 1960's Hippie look in America. It all started with a model from Britain called Twiggy. (She was skinny) I actually tried to grow my naturally curly hair long once and it didn't work out well. I was in high school and I so desperately wanted to look "fashionable". American Marketing was really pushing in the 60's and getting a feel for how they could sell products to a middle class that had some $$ in it's pocket by using t.v. advertisements. Girls were taking their long hair and rolling it on clean, empty Campbell's Soup cans to get that straight look.

I saw Crystal live at a winery in California at a very small summer evening show 25 years ago. I was just maybe 15 feet from her. She was so much fun and just an amazing entertainer. Afterward about a dozen or two of us drank wine and chatted with her for quite a while and we all just chatted. She is beyond nice and really pretty. I remember remarking to her that I had no idea how tiny she was. She giggled, leaned over and said 4 ft. 11 inches. What a great night.
