FULL TEXT: Computers and television are the two most important art forms of the present day. It's almost impossible to imagine what the future will be like, which is coming very soon. Holography; 3D; holographic television; environmentalisms like images that completely will surround us, which we can design by ourselves and for ourselves. Homeostasis in the balancing off of our whole mind and body. These are the futures that I think the artists should talk about and deal with. Television is clearly one of the most important forms that we have to live and communicate by. We're now talking by satellites completely around the world. It seems to me absolutely essential that systems likes like CBS or whatever, larger than that perhaps, worldwide systems, have artists to come and try to integrate their thoughts and their hopes and their feelings into the systems. This particular set up here physically is just one small laboratory, one of only about three in the entire country. And yet the potentialities for it and the future for it are unbelievable. Quite clearly with channel television and cable television and other systems, all these ideas will become part of our life. By telephone you'll be able to reach out and get into a computer. Now your children - 14, 15 years old - will be able to work with this and in probably three or four years art schools the future will teach program programming as much as they teach life drawing. It's a whole new definition of communication, which are now in our hands potentially, if we get our hands on them - not so easy to do sometimes. That's the challenge as I see it for the artist as as well indeed for the for the whole fabric of our society. We must reach out somehow. Communicate, balance our senses. And live a good life.
