CS Matiangi makes an impromptu inspection of vehicles in Michuku Rules crackdown

Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiangi made an impromptu spot check at the Naivasha and Gilgil highway to ensure compliance of the Michuki Rules by motorists.
The Cs also talk to passengers assuring them that the rules were made to protect them.

The language that this officer is using is uncalled for. Police service is not force to intimidate but to serve and protect. They need to have training on public relations and image.

I think we need to train our police in modern ways of policing. We need active in motion traffic stops not road blocks. If I can offer matiangi advise, equip as many traffic officers with motor bikes to track on transit vehicles and we will be able to crack down. You cant cram down effectively by stopping vehicles as soon as they arrive to check point. The other thing ke ya police should do is train officers to remain in the vehicle for inspection not alighting from vehicle to meet officers to square issues. The only time a driver should be asked to step down of vehicle is when hes being arrested or going through a drunk driving check. I think Kenya police needs a new theory of training police officers. The police need yo be equipped with tools of trade for their difficult tasks. Why should a police officer noy be armed when dealing with public??? How are you going to deal with combative suspects. Days are gone when people used to respect/ fear teachers and police. Weneed to devolutionalize police standard procedures if we are going to make a meaningful business in having a force that can seriously handle lawbreakers and enforcement of the law. The other day I saw two officers getting wooped up by a single tuk- tuk driver! This shouldn't happen at all. He can try but he wont succeed. We cant keep having law breakers having their way in handling police and escape scottfree. If you need my help am ready.
