I do not understand something, at 3:35, we can see that Rustie and Gloria have received only 1 prepare message < 2f = 2 . So why do they commit? Shouldn't Derrick be the only one committing as he's the only one who received 2 prepare ?

That's because the pre-prepare from the primary node Derrick also counts as one vote in this stage.

Thank you for this video. Very Well explained. One query: in this entire explanation, Nadir node looks more like a faulty node than a byzantine node. Can you explain the difference and why Nadir is assumed to be non-existent rather than sending out varying messages?

Is the difference that a faulty node can exist regardless of the system? Meaning that a faulty node can exist in both Byzantine and non-Byzantine system
