I will hands down argue that 1986 was THE BEST YEAR OF MUSIC in modern times! Look at the sheer volume of hits and the dynamic range of the music! And this is the shittier list! Doesn't include all the great "Hair Metal" from that year and other groups like "Scritti Politti" - "Perfect Way" and "Swingout Sister" HELLO?!?!? "Breakout" charted in Sept '86! and so many more! OMG, the soundtrack of my life! And it was the BEST YEAR OF MY LIFE also! I was 18 and 19 years old in the Navy from San Diego to Hawaii to Australia, Philippines, China, Japan, Hong Kong, Singapore, and Thailand! so so SO many fond memories connected to so many of these hits! I can say exactly where I was when I heard them! Epiphany! I'm gonna do a video "1986 The Best Year of My Life featuring the best soundtrack of my life!"

I disagree. 1986 was a horrible year for music. Hardly any rock. It’s mostly dance “music”. 🤮

I Do What I Do. John Taylor. Not Jonathan Taylor. Phil Collins appeared again. No One Is to Blame. Written by and sung by Howard Jones. Piano and synthesizers by him. Produced by Phil Collins. Drums by him. Don't Forget Me When I'm Gone. Bryan Adams is the guest singer. 9:40. Dreamtime. You mean in 1986, not 1988. In Your Eyes. Paula Cole on the female vocals. Take Me Home Tonight. Late Rinnie Spector on guest vocals. Good 👍 otherwise.
