Yes it’s very hinted they both even fall apart at the same time, Catherine always felt like his truest friend. Like there’s a point after brass gets shot he says I don’t hang out with him outside the workplace, but I genuinely believe he hangs with Catherine outside the job. Catherine calls him on his bullshit but allows him to continue operating at a distance as long as it doesn’t affect her, Sara however was very naive and kinda childish with Grissom which made him act more human she forced him out of his comfort zone and when she started to fall apart due to the job and his alienation he took it personally.
