(1)Homeotherms:-maintain constant body temperature ( here m for maintaining temp, m for mammals), as well as birds also, (2)Ectotherms:- C from ectotherm, conformers For C, rules= (i) Allen's rule = A= short appendages in cold climate, (ii) Bergmann rule:- B = body size (large) in cold climate, S. A. /V= low, so small size at poles, whereas S. A/V= high at equator, (iii) Glogger's rule :-G= skin glow= darker in humid and warm compared to colder, drier area=melanin deposit, (iv) Richard Hesse rule:-bade log=bade dil wale analogy here, pole=large size=larger heart size (v) Jorden rule(for fishes) :-number of joint vertebrae increase from tropic to cooler (vi) Rensch rule:-hot area=broader wings, cold area=narrower wings (vii) Gordu's rule:- like summarised form of all other rules=states temp influencing animal morphology (viii) Cope's rule:-dealing with evolution, population lineage increasing size of body over evolutionary time. (ix)Liebig's law of minimum :if ideal condition =organism grow properly, if a certain factor minimize, eg nutrients in plant case, rate of growth of plant affected. (x) Shelford law of Tolerance :- reproduction factor here playing deciding role, beyond min or max organisms cannot grow. Steno =narrow, eury=wide (xi) Assembly rule=first incoming species decide next upcoming species which will come, have a quite similar relation to like succession models like facilitation, tolerance model etc. (xii) Eichler rule:-host specificity (xiii) Emery's rule=closely related tend to be parasites which are social. (xiv) Foster's rule=island rule, an animal having large size on mainland is large because of proper food resources available, if it is shifted to island then it cannot attain much larger size due to limitations of resources, vice versa for small animals.
