i'm here because I got burnt out on web dev and am feeling rusty. first thing I see is the 10px base font setting and then using rems for all child elements.. which is what I told a contracting company to do EXACTLY maybe 5 years ago.. or at least when I figured out what rem was for and we could get away from that 16px bullcrap! seeing what other problems I recognize with positioning. I skipped flexbox and went right into grid, since it was more complicated to master and might as well be consistent. yes, for full width fr is best, nested elements maybe % with padding and margin.

Great video, really helpful but the height and the font-size of the divs are too small that it's hard to see the output of the changes you are making in the code

Hi there. I'm doing a project in school for website development, and i have been using your channel for a bit of the stuff. It is required that we get a person in the subject we are doing to answer questions via email (Example: What made you go into this profession) Would you be willing to do it? There would only be about ten questions, and it would help lots. Thanks.

1rem and 1em is 16 px not 10 px?
@learncodeacademy5 жыл бұрын
It's 10px if you do an html font-size: 62.5%, which should be a standard practice for easy math on rems

Of the areas of webdev, I haven't done a LOT of Python, which is why I don't teach it. I don't like teaching things that I haven't mastered as I'd hate to steer people wrong, or equally bad, make those video tutorials that are informative, but seem to lack meat (because the guy teaching just teaches for a living and doesn't deeply know what he's talking about)
@mihirpatel13405 жыл бұрын
@@learncodeacademy OK, Brother fine! I was just asking you. You please keep uploading things which you know and you think you can steer people at a right track. Your one reply means a lot to me. Thank you for taking time to read and reply this comment.

FOR FIXED WIDTH THINGS, default to rem, use em when width has to care about parent's font size (rare), use px for things that should be the exact same despite user's font size setting (borders grid spacing, etc) FOR RESPONSIVE LAYOUTS, default to fr (when using css grid), then percent use ch when you want to micro-manage how width interacts with text OTHERS: vw,vh - useful for modals, things that respond to full screen size pt, cm, mm, in - only use for print, not useful for web
