hi!! I'm looking to get into CSSSA in 2021 and I was wondering if you had any advice on what they're looking for. Also, do you have to be 13 to apply or just 13 when you get to the camp? By the time I would apply I would be underage but by the time I got there, I would be 13.

18:06 I understand both points here though as I feel artists (generally working for a studio that takes in many projects at the same time) need to be able to switch art styles on a whim, or at least be flexible with their styles, so it is great that you have the capacity to handle multiple styles at once, but it may become an issue when it's not your style you'll be working with. On the other hand, it is kind of bad to do tons of different styles if it is your own personal style, but in my experience eventually your styles will blend and become an amalgam of everything you've worked on. TL;DR: Life is a mess and nothing means anything XD

what advice would you give to someone trying to find their style? (not just in animation). Also I just love your work, you are truly amazing :))
@Meppity5 жыл бұрын
Emily B Finding a style is so tough because it kind of has to appear organically. You already have a style, you just need to refine it etc. I recommend: - collect a bunch of your favourite artists and their work (make a folder/Pinterest board/ collection on Instagram etc) - pick out the features and elements you like from these artists. - try various elements in your own work. Keep mixing and matching to see what you like most. - start developing it more to make it your own. Perhaps a signature eye shape or colour scheme etc. Hope this helps!!
@mica49775 жыл бұрын
I agree with her recommendations & would like to add a tid-bit. People learn in different ways, at different speeds, excel in different aspects & have different interest. All of these aspects combine and create the "base" of your art style. Unique to how much and from where or with whom you learn from. In order to take the next step you must familiarize yourself with what you like and dislike of your own art & learn to identify what elements from other artists you enjoy. From here you start experimenting by supplementing your dislikes with inspiration & elements you do like from various artists & nature. Your tastes may change as you continue learning and improving your skills so it's good to keep in mind that artists will often repeat this cycle in search of honing an art style they love. Just keep on learning and evolving with your art! From an external point of view others may already notice your style based on the quirks you do.

Asaun Hudson for me I know it’s a huge passion because I really can’t imagine doing anything else as a career!! Film, advertising, illustration, acting, music production etc are all things I’m interested in but definitely still wishing the artistic/creative field. Art is very broad so maybe you just need to do a little more exploring to find a niche? Everyone has periods of lacking motivation/passion. I drew almost nothing for the first four months of this year so that’s what you may be experiencing. Hope this helps?
