I just did mine this morning Danny... I have started to sell my less valuable clocks.. I am opting to buy and repair more valuable clocks like Seth Thomas No2 and store regulators.. I now have 2 Aurthur Pequgnat Brandon's(let's go brandon) which are quite valuable. I see a sudden demand for older clocks somehow. I have sold 6 clocks to the same gentleman and repaired 2 of his other clocks. Amazing.. I have made enough to pay for my entire collection... So I will do the same..buy,repair and sell to get the clocks I really want.. Hope you are well.

I went through the liquidating phase a while back... Really goes to show how you've grown as a clock collector, and the transition into it being a serious hobby. Welcome to the club!!!

It's a surprisingly hard thing to do.. I have definitely saved some of my clocks from the garbage heap.. But as much as I love them....some of the locks I have collected are far from rare and I can pretty much get more anytime.. I the new generation doesn't want.old.clock or antiques.. As pre boomers die....they are comming out of attics everywhere..

I like the mantel clock with the tiny bell starting at 7:05. That bell is very cute. How rare is that one anyway?
@DannysClocks2 жыл бұрын
Hi, Tristan! First off, I've seen you comment around a lot of clock videos and it's nice to finally have you here, welcome! Second off, I believe they're not rare, but not necessarily common either. Uncommon, but not rare. The carriage clock has the name "Semca" on it, but it's really made by Mauthe and has a W-400 movement in it. You could probably find them if you look up "Mauthe carriage clock".

The Beehive mantel clock's hands always confuse me. Like, is the hour hand broken, and is the minute hand the hour hand from another clock?
@DannysClocks2 жыл бұрын
I recieved the clock this way and I'm honestly not entirely sure myself what to think about the hands. But hey, it works and it tells the time so I don't see any reason to change it really. I think the hour hand looks fine with the minute hand personally. Maybe someone replaced the original hands because they snapped them or something. It happens a lot more often than people think.

What happened to the Poppo Cuckoo Clock?

It's currently off the wall in need of a servicing. The music box stopped working and so did the cuckoo.

I have a question... How are you supposed to know when your clocks are almost out of winding power?
@DannysClocks2 жыл бұрын
You sort of have to have prior knowledge of what kind of mechanism your clock has. Weight driven clocks are easy because you can see when they're about to touch the ground. Spring driven clocks, if they're 1 day clocks (also called 30 hour clocks) you have to wind them up sometime every day, I prefer bedtime. 8 day clocks you wind up every week, picking a day like Friday or Sunday to wind them up every week. 31-35 day clocks you have to keep track of how many weeks they've been running before you wind them up unless you just want to wind them up with the 8 day clocks, but thats not recommended for the springs.

It's not really that new of a clock. He got it back in 2018. There is a video for it on his channel you can check out. But I do agree with how it's one of the best ones for playing the melodies.

@@robertferry2607 It's not up to him. You buy whatever you want since it's your collection. He shouldn't be bossed around. If he likes musical cuckoo clocks, he can get them. If you hate musical cuckoo clocks, then it's best to just stick with ones that aren't musical.
