I've done it many years ago, Penn-Central days. No cops to speak of around railroad tracks. Long before Homeland Security. I usually grabbed the third or fourth loco and rode in style. The engine crews didn't care as long as you didn't touch anything. At that point in time if you know your railroad history, the NYC guys didn't like the PRR crews and they all hated the management people. It was an us against them atmosphere since the operating people knew the upper management was robbing the railroads blind. I highly recommend the book "The Wreck of the Penn-Central". Hmmmm??? Where is common sense these days? God help this country where stupidity seems to run rampant.
@ljones1218 жыл бұрын
honestly most people call because it's really dangerous, and if when these idiots fall off the train as it will happen eventually and if they live, they sue the railroad, if they die, their family will sue the railroad, but most of all it's traumatizing for the the crew, knowing they killed someone. so a lot of us call it in because the fact that the men and woman who work the railroad shouldn't have to go through that kind of agony and blaming themselves for something they couldn't control.
@nihongo023418 жыл бұрын
Many deaths occur because of illegal hitchers. And Railroad Police are there for a reason buddy. Trespassing on CSX trains let alone property is not only dangerous but VERY illegal. Think about it if you have any brains. If you trespass on someone's property in the USA do you think the homeowner is going to shoot you? Possibly. At least companies gently remove suspects, and not shoot them. They would get shot though if they were threatening the lives of Police or the community.

Yeah like that murderous member of the F.T.R.A. named Sidetrack who was dubbed the Boxcar Killer he was a serial killer who murdered other train hoppers, he robbed and killed 28 that the law was aware of. The F.T.R.A. is legendary for being loaded with psycho's that murder and rob other broke and homeless people just like themselves including teens and college kids in the ninety's and early two thousands the F.T.R.A. was the most predatory gang of train hopping Hobo's that ever existed they are believed to be responsible for more than 300 rail related deaths. The rails aren't safe people die and get horribly hurt every year, never get in a boxcar with anyone you don't know it could be your last ride EVER. The largest demographic of train hoppers is convicted felons and addicts to various substances that make many unstable and untrustworthy and insane. Sometimes being careful and having respect for others isn't enough to keep you alive in that world it's truly risky and unsafe for anyone who enters it. There are good people on the rails but also some of the greatest evils that exist currently are on there as well because they can't work they are generally not suitable for the world so they end up homeless and on the rails. Just think about that before you decide to hop a train yes trains can kill you but there's worst things than the trains and bulls YOU CAN DIE OR LOSE AN EXTREMITY FACTS!!!!

Only if you are on a freight train that you shouldn’t hop on. On a passenger train it depends on the length of where you are going.

hawtchick69 let me ask you this. Did you fall asleep on a train and miss your destination. I was on a train one time and someone who fell asleep on the train asked me what stop it was and I told him the one after his destination and he had to probably waste more money going to his destination.

I do not think that we should blame a Foamer. The filmer on the bridge was just being Captain Obvious. The train hopper was spotted on a camera placed elsewhere. Remember it takes a while to stop a train.
@BaltimoreAndOhioRR5 жыл бұрын
Actually, it was totally coincidence. I had no idea anything was amiss about this train, I just wanted to get the two trains passing each other from the angle of the bridge. I just happened to see the rider as he came into view. But yes, obviously someone, or some camera, saw him prior to this spot.

New to this topic and have read many comments on both sides. Trespassing aside, seriously who gives a fuk, If the railroad was that worried about people getting hurt they would build a fence or add cabooses back so the would have a safe car to ride in. They are going to jump on the train regardless of the law so you prevent it, make it safe or f-off and let people live and let live.
@BaltimoreAndOhioRR6 жыл бұрын
or how about removing them when they do?

My uncle works RR, says it's more aggravation than help - if reported they have no choice but to stop the train - one reason they don't much like the rail fans.
