CTA 'L' - A Busy Weekend on the Pink Line

Welcome back to another long overdue video! Saturday May 25th was quite the busy Saturday for the CTA's Pink Line. Concertgoers packed the Douglas branch heading to and from the latino music festival known as "Sueños" where many mainstream Spanish artists performed that weekend in Grant Park. Due to heavy ridership after 8pm, CTA runs extra trains on the Pink Line using 8 car consists whenever special events like this happen downtown. In recent times, CTA would also run 8 car Pink Line trains for Lollapalooza and Riot Fest in Douglass Park.

First time viewer, came over from "Trains Are Awesome". I live on the Pink Line since 2010, and it's disappointing that the CTA doesn't run 6-car trains during peak periods without an event happening. We live in major population centers of the city, and are restricted to crowded 4-car trains.

If you were wondering why the green line had loop 👇 It's because one day, the loop-Roosevelt connector was under maintenance, so the green line was split in two one from Harlem to loop and back going counterclockwise in the loop and the second part trains from cottage Grove and 63/Ashland went as far as cermak mc comick place. The orange line only went to halsted through Midway. There where shuttle busses that went from HWL to Mc cormick and halsted The pink line was the only line in the inner loop.
