I've been following and playing this game for YEARS and it's crazy to see how far it's come. I love that you can focus on game design and outsourcing the physical stuff, or do all the physical stuff, or both, or OS design. The depth is so cool. Also love how you can have customer support teams.

Another tip: when you exit design and go to programming, you can do a review (you pay some money and get a score on all the aspects), and on the screen with the scores there is an 'iteration' button, click that and your design team takes another quick pass at designing, your programming progress gets a setback and you get a better quality product. You can do this multiple times too

Suggestion for folks getting into this game: you can have up to 4 founders. Use all 4. Makes it much easier. You can spec one for development (not lead!) with high creativity, one for programming, one for art, and one for support (with a programming secondary). That'll give you a huge boost with rep-2 and rep-3 contracts, with no need to pay salary, and an even bigger boost when you are ready to develop your own software. Founder don't require salary, though they do get dividends. But since dividends are only a cut of profit, you can't go bankrupt via dividends.

I think the reason the teams' "Max tasks" option misbehaves is because it's looking at actively being worked on, not just started but not finished. So if it's two and a task becomes blocked somehow(needs art and the programmers working on the task can't do art) it gets freed from the active jobs, meaning they might start another. If the original task becomes unblocked(iteration completes or similar) they'll go back to the original task leaving the new task they picked up with a tiny bit of work. I think it works like that to ensure employees are always working.

I did think it was odd in the first ep.1 how you started by hiring a programmer (kicking Quill out of his best skill), then a designer (kicking Quill out of his second best skill). Good to know you also thought that wasn't the best you could have done.

Meetings ARE horrible. End of discussion :). The first several years of in-office work (before I transitioned to 100% remote work long before COVID), my main worry was nodding off if I wasn't actively engaged in the conversation. Problem is....most meetings involve 90% of discussion not pertaining to anything I would need to know or items I already knew. I can't count the number of times I'd be nudged by one of my co-workers, telling me I was starting to snore. Pretty sure I have undiagnosed narcolepsy. In contrast, working remotely allows me to always instead either be getting work done rather than spend half or more of my day idle in meetings.....or to watch movies/videos (like this) in between tasks. With some of the analytics I do, it's not uncommon for me to have to wait several minutes or more while waiting for calculations or renders and I can't use remaining hardware in the meantime, so why not fill that time :D

3:19 You probably already know and did it but just incase you haven't (Or anyone else who may never had noticed), that little blue box that says "Development" is a drop down menu where other points can be spent for other things that are very useful to have! 21:13 When you click the "Review" button you can send off your project to have a code review/thing/whatever and, if the results aren't satisfactory, or you just want to go back to the design phase you can click the "Iterate" button

I was typing out tips about the calculator, wall clock and bookshelf when you placed them so that part has been deleted, I put a wall clock and a few paintings in my toilets and washrooms, I have no idea if that makes them pee and wash their hands better/faster but it can't hurt, I still haven't put a bookshelf in the toilet yet I am more worried they will spend hours on the toilet instead of just reading the back of the air freshener bottle like we did back in the dark ages. In my last game that I started after your first Ep 1, I started with a 2D editor and then did a Audio software like you said you found works well and was on my 3rd versions of each when I had enough money and a large enough team that I wanted to make a game, but none of the operating systems had 3D graphics and I had been hiring a heap of 3D programers and artist so I did the only thing I could do and made my own OS with 3D graphics, after proting the lates 2D editor and audio tool to my new OS I was racking in millions every month.

@BOchamp019 ай бұрын
Yes :) Although with your own products later in the game, you can bug fix for months and will always find something (even if you fix 500 bugs before you release it), so it’s better to release it when you think it’s good enough, then fix any remaining bugs with updates.
@tortex19 ай бұрын
@@BOchamp01 The more complex the product, the more bugs. When Quill checked the bigger project there were 200+ bugs unresolved, incurring a penalty. And when you make your own project you tend to make it big enough to get around 600 bugs. Having an SCM server helps keep it lower during development.

Not at all, isn't normal or common to rent out your home's garage to a startup either. Usually "the founder" uses their own garage, or possibly parents.
