how does this particular dumptrailer work? does the operator release the tractor brakes leaving the trailer brakes engaged which inturn allows the tractor unit to follow the trailer as it's dumping? or does the operator reverse the tractor unit simultaneously as the dumptrailer goes up?

What I do is I use the trailer brake lever as it's going up. When the material starts to dump I release it a little to let it move forward and keep dumping then bro g it down and get another

so how does one run this type of dumptrailer? by the looks of it, the drive leaves the trailer brakes engaged and releases the tractor brakes leaving the truck in neutral? or is the operator slowly reversing at the same pace as the slave piston is raising?

Tiki Savage .. if you want to back up to something (like unloading into a conveyor) then you set the trailer brakes and not the tractor brakes .. and if you want to unload bulky material - leaving a windrow- set tractor and not trailer ...... as trailer lifts truck and tractor come together - so depends on what / where your dumping as to how you set the brakes

Tiki Savage ... set trailer brakes and left truck brakes off .. it was steep ground - usually setting trailer is better for rough /steep ground - it's more stable .... thanks for watching and for commenting... happy memorial day

Thats a tronion mount telescopic cylinder .. we make those at my job. Custom hoists in haysville ohio .... not saying thats one of ours . But we build that type of cylinder

either PTO was not engaged or he has hyd pump issues some drag the trailer to them other chose to hold trailer and drag tractor to trailer till load gets out of the nose of the trailer

Tony Jarrett .. brake chamber was bad and air was bleeding off - has to be above 90psi to engage PTO .. took little while to figure out what was going on
