Thank you so much for this conversation. Professor Weems' testimony, experience, intelligence, and wisdom are an absolute blessing. As a Black male preacher, I am challenged and encouraged by her example as a human being of faith who doesn't mind being "scrappy." I pray that she and other Black women scholar/preachers will continue to change the temperature in the room.

I’ve watched many of these interviews over the years, but I must say this one has truly changed my life-just like many others have. This conversation has articulated the scattered thoughts I’ve often had. I feel blessed, challenged, and encouraged all at the same time. Thank you, Dr. Thomas and Dr. Weems!

Yes-- as we pursue our vocations, we may be led to focus on different forms of ministry and different forms of communication. Yes, preaching is but one form and focus of ministry communication; writing and teaching are other faithful responses. Though still "a preacher," I resonate with Dr. Weems' movement to now being primarily a scholar who preaches because that is the medium that our people are most receptive to.
