Conrad Black remains one of our greatest public intellectuals, and finest writers. It's a privilege to have meet him thrice.

Thanks President Trump for pardoning one of the few real Canadians that's is respected as a journalist and writer in this country. Please ignore the fools that run the federal government. They will be gone and forgotten in 1 year.

Ron Henderson I hope they're not! ("Forgotten" that is.) I expect to be reminded daily. As Truedough and crew fight to stay out of prison. No pardons.

This interviewer is absolutely rude the way he repeatedly contradicts the reason for the pardon. I'm glad Lord Black is pardoned.

You have to admire President Trump. The man is a stand-up individual. A great and positive character. From former drug dealers who reformed to innocent victims of prosecutorial abuse. He will take decisive actions to correct injustice.

This is great news Lord Black. We conservative Canadians realize what a mockery this has been. You need to keep up your health and writing, you are definitely one of our treasures. My grandfather, years and years ago, with another man that ended up betraying him, began the Sherbrooke Record newspaper that you much later bought and then sold. History and the 6 degrees of separation are always so interesting. Thanks for being you and I send greetings and prayers for you and your family.

Black was railroaded by a system that stinks. His crime ? Selling his newspaper empire and as part of that sale signing a non compete clause . The buyer paid for him not his company to stay out of the newspaper business for a set period of time.
@jamesanthony56812 жыл бұрын
Wasn't he told NOT to remove any documents from his office(s)? He was then caught on camera removing banker boxes of material, and then claimed afterwards it was personal material that had nothing to do with his trial.

I think it's time for Lord Black, now that his dignity has been restored, to negotiate an agreement between Canada and the USA. An agreement that reflects friendship not adversaries.

What would a Canadian need an American pardon for? Pardon for what? What's he into?
@jamesanthony56812 жыл бұрын
That's like the cops saying to someone brought in for questioning, "Why do you need to have a lawyer present if you're innocent?"
@Salvatore88ish5 жыл бұрын
In an October 2012 interview, Black intimated that he would rather resign from the order than be removed: "I would not wait for giving these junior officials the evidently almost aphrodisiacal pleasure of throwing me out. I would withdraw", he told CBC's Susan Ormiston. "In fact, I wouldn't be interested in serving."[93] The Governor General of Canada, David Johnston, announced Black's removal from the Order of Canada and his expulsion from the Queen's Privy Council for Canada in January 2014. Johnston had been recommended to do so by the Advisory Council of the Order of Canada and the Canadian Prime Minister.[94][95] As a result, Black may also no longer employ the post-nominal initials OC and PC.[96]
