Asking for crazy increases while the company they work for is losing more and more money every year (largest expense is salaries) and saying they want to restrict the company making any changes to improve its profitability. They're totally disconnected from reality, no one in Canada is on the union's side. Get back to work.

In Ontario, they're losing the LCBO and Beer store because of this aswell. I go to the grocery store now. I don't support Unions after they caused our manufacturing to leave Canada.
@Bunbunfunfun16 сағат бұрын
Why? The post office operates in the negative for years. They are never going to get more out of the government. To be honest I have zero sympathy for them. Governemnt workers are paid higher wages and better benefits than most jobs in the private sector. And realistically their are private sector jobs that are magnitudes harder and more vital that dont come close to what Postal workers get. If you dont like what you get nothing stopping them from looking for another job if they dont like what they get.

A 5% cut in income tax would give everyone a raise
@dbmuir868318 сағат бұрын
It would, but neither the Liberals or Conservatives would ever humour such an idea, because the name-of-the-game is lowering taxes for others (grocers/banks/retail-giants/O&G/etc) & not constituents. Canadians need to smarten-up.

The Canada post is an independent business not a social program paid for by taxes. It runs solely on its own sales.

about time they are mandated back. i work for a finanacial institution, I got 1.78% salary increase for 2025. if you want meaningful increases, then you need to get a new role/promotion or find a new employer.
@Jdogspeps9 сағат бұрын
It starts with the unions getting those raises, then you will probably get a bigger raise too. that's how solidarity works, if you have solidarity with other workers, you could get those kinds of raises too. btw the raises they were asking for are well within reason given their lack of ANY raises for years, despite the rampant inflation we've all been facing

the fact that they need to mandate them to go back to work, shows how important their work is, and how they're barely getting paid what it is worth to everyone

Low skill work, like very low skill. lol they make what they should. Mail delivery is needed still. But it could be dropped to once a week not Mon through Fri. They should just be happy to still have jobs, many will be looking for new employment soon.
