I had a devastating loss last week, so I am just catching up on Paul's updates. I am so sad to hear of the 39/39 score and that they were unable to reverse the stoma. Paul is battling as hard as anyone I have ever known. Caroline, no one could ask for a better friend to have by their side. My thoughts and prayers are with both of you and all of Paul's medical team. Having been an oncology nurse, a caregiver of loved ones with cancer, and a patient, I know what a difficult journey this is.

Yet, it reinforces that Paul definitely made the best choice to undergo surgery at this time, and I'm sure that it, with the EPIC, will give him a much, much longer period and much better quality of life than had he not done it! Hugs to you both ❤ Truly appreciate the updates and thankful you are by his side. Sometimes they don't know until they are in there if viable to restore. Between scar tissue and fear of healing without infection, it's just not worth it. Thankful they realize issues on stomach and could actually improve the area a bit to extend quality. Paul is a champ with TPN for a short run. I'm glad his care is so attentive. He deserves the best you certainly are.🌸
