This is a IH built 982 that I am going to repower with a Kubota D600 diesel engine.

A 982 turbo diesel will be an awesome tractor. The tractor that got me hooked on these Cub diesels was a 1512 with a Mercedes turbo and the owner told me it was making about 26 HP with the turbo. Sounded awesome too. Looking forward to seeing the starter upgrade video also. I've been planning to upgrade the starter on my 882, but the new OEM starter on it just recently quit working so I think it may need to be replaced sooner than I had planned. I was planning to swap the fine spline internals into a cast iron housing for my 782, but I'm afraid it will be too heavy in the rear after I do the rear PTO upgrade someday.

Having a turbo diesel is nice, but I’ve had problems with having the original muffler cause of it be heavy and hitting rocks or ruts from plowday events. It would crack the welds on the exhaust stabilizer bracket.

Would it be to loud strait piped? Did you have any engine issues plowing with the turbo?

steiger 256 nope exhaust was the only problem. I have the muffler on for yard work but I’m making a straight pipe for shows and plowday events cause any show I have takin the tractor they ask if it has a turbo.

@@Andrew_Black_ ok. I will more than likely strait pipe it if i do it then. Thanks

steiger 256 there are a couple variations of turbo setups, the turbo I have on my 1772 is one that Michael masheris made

i think kubota has turbo kit avaliable at dealer

I will look into that. I will have to stop and check at a Kubota dealer. Thanks
