Man I have been trying for 2 hours to find a way to stop the crank shaft from turning on my zero turn to remove the pto clutch and couldn't figure it out. I am heading out to try this rope trick. If it works You have no idea how much you have helped. THANK YOU!!! UPDATE: It works like a charm... What a Help this video is for people like me without an impact wrench.... I did exactly as he said in the video and changed it out in less than 30 minutes... after 2 hours of messing with the crankshaft. THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!

I’m trying to make an off-roading mower and I’m wondering if my mower can run without the pto, to see if it’s even worth taking off. Thank you for taking the time to answer if you do.
@MowerMike

Well it would but your issue is the PTO also keeps the drive belt pulley bolted up. I would just take the belt off, that PTO won’t be sucking any horsepower without the deck belt. An off-road mower lol I don’t know what that is but I like it !

My PTO clutch was totally burned out on my XT1. I didn't have an impact so I ordered one and still couldn't remove the bolt. It's only a 1/4 inch drive so that was a "live and learn" moment for me. But the rope trick worked! That saved me a ton of time and probably money too. Mower Mike, thank you for this video!

Like magic. Thx to you and Jessie J. In looking for a video to watch on this because my LT1045’s PTO stopped working and it wasn’t the switch. The first one I starting watching was a video with text over images of flowers. The stupidest way to mistreat your audience is to totally ignore the visual part of your video by excluding the extremely relevant visuals of things like the tools actually being placed on the bolt and things like that. Your video was dead on. Clear audio even though a tad echoey, you were still close enough to the mic that you were easily understood. Thank you for a video well done.

I spent an hour looking at every other video on these darn mowers, half of them dont have the clutch and the rest use impacts. I'm just a guy trying to save a couple hundred bucks on a repair bill, and youve saved it for me. What's the best way to send you a few of the bucks I saved? It's worth it to me to pay you back. Man sorry to hear that. Somehow I feel like this is my fault. I would get as much of it out as you can and then just run it. The engine should eat whatever is left of that rope. Full throttle it will make some funny noises for a bit then smooth out. (Remember I am a guy on KZbin giving you free “advice”)

Hey mower Mike, we’ve got a old 1330 cub cadet and 2 out of the 4 engine mounting threads are stripped, have you ever seen someone have success pulling the engine and tapping the holes to make new threads?
@MowerMike
@MowerMike Жыл бұрын
That shouldn’t be too hard especially since it is just aluminum. I would drill it out and tap new threads for a slightly larger bolt in there. Or you could just drill it out and put a bolt with a nut on the end of it will fit and not tap anything. You got this check out this video. kzbin.info/www/bejne/pZbGo5t4fNqYhbM

@@MowerMike thanks for caring! It’s a PTO honor cub, cadet mower, and the sprocket is Tucktaway up in there and I can’t get to it to put a polar on it. d@@MowerMike I guess it's called the deck. For me its the thing that turns and holds the blades. As well as any bigger truck that was brought in to the shop. But I digress......

@@brucegillette5713 Detroit’s are built like tanks I hear! As far as your deck, if the things turning the blades are bad those are the spindles. Super easy to replace. Now if the metal deck itself is beat up where the spindles attach there is an option I put the link below. These are reinforcement rings that go on under the spindles which fix when your deck is bent or broken. They work great am going to do a video on them.
